Closing a thread with invaluable information about one of the best types of FPV models is madness, just because of the bloke who started it.

The politics on here is rubbish, rise above it RCG, if you was to alienate this froum from FPV then just remove the whole sub category, by closing useful threads you're just going to loose members elsewhere.

I'm waiting for my 60" Blunt nose from Chris to start building!

Here's my 60" zephyr fpv maiden, video degrades badly at 500m not sure whats causing it??

FPV Maiden of Zephyr (4 min 24 sec)

setup is

Hacker A30-10L Motor
Hacker X70 SB Pro Esc
2 x 3300mah 4s Nantech Lipos
EzOSD
ExUHF

Video on Bevrc 2.4ghz 500mw vtx (built in mic) and rx stock antennas channel 8
This is powered direct from 4s as it can accept this voltage, it then supplies 12v to camera. The vtx power has a sander style lc filter on the input.

Any ideas on my bad video?

I wish I could help but I'm still awaiting my equipment and just getting into FPV.

I will say for 500m that is pretty bad and have you also tried other channels to see if there's some type of interference in that area?

It took me about 2 weeks to make up my mind but after talking with Chris @Ritewing and Trappy they helped me figure it out.

The 60" has the advantage of carrying more weight and at a longer distance while being extremely stable. I also wanted some real estate up front for the gopro and my flight cam so the "blunt" version makes that happen with ease. I also have the option to go with 4000-5000mAh up front for extreme distances and keep the flight time up where it needs to be.

Trappy has recently been able to get his flight cam out of the view of the gopro but confessed it was a pain and he had to come up with a custom mount for it. I'd rather keep it simple as this is my first FPV wing and it all added up to what I wanted out of the wing.

what would be a better choice on a 3s 5600mah(2600mah x 2) witha 10x6 folder

wait a sec, so you're telling me they closed his ritewing thread cause of trappy?!?!? if that's the case that's sad, that had some great info in it and trappy has common sense and doesn't do super dangerous things........WOW

I agree with you there but if you look through the thread it's riddled with crap that's off topic. I'd say half of those pages you can just throw away and the last 2 pages goes off subject again. I honestly got tired of reading the same crap when all i wanted was quality information. If you want to find trappy he's around if you know where to look

I went with the Hacker as i'd rather depend on a quality product vs. a cheap chinese motor when there's $1000 more at stake miles away. If you indeed to wanna go the turnigy route trappy has a full blown zephr and a budget one with recommendations that include a turnigy motor here: http://www.team-blacksheep.com/article/page:15

Chris is a stand up guy and has always taken my phone call, even when he's busy, and has given some invaluable information on helping me chose a zephr that will fit my needs. He's also talked to me about how to paint and apply coatings to an unrelated wing which was pretty kewl.

Motors, there is a difference - Hacker/Axi/MVVS are more expensive for a reason and are more efficient and are more reliable, Turnigy are great for the money and I use them on most things foam, but never on breakable 3D plank where if it fails during certain maneuvers it will crash.

I use scorpion and hacker motor on my large 3D plane, but in this case i have a budget which i can only afford a turnigy setup. I read that with trappy motor suggestion some people are being under powered, I really want to go with the 1250kv motor, 10x6 folder and either a 3s 3000mah x 2 or 4s2650mah x 2 i already have a plane that uses 4s2200mah-4s3000mah so the 4s26500mah might benefit my fleet battery.

what do you guys think?

I use the 1450 Kv one and noproblems so far. Reliable and plenty powerfull. I use a 6 x 10 prop and it puts out 450W at 45A. I use 2 x 2650 mah in parallel. Cruising is done just over 1/2 throttle and it pulls about 20-25 amps. I don't have an OSD yet but after a 15 minute flight I have 3.8-3.9V per cell left (3s)
