Lx a-10

Th A-10 has always been a favorite of mine and I've been looking for one this size for some time. This one went together smooth and looks great in the air. Very straight forward as far as assembly goes. There is a bit of room for improvement as far as the gear goes but other wise very well done.

A-10

Hi Mike,

I saw in another thread where you said:

"The LX A-10 is a perfect example of stock gear not up to the job."

Do you have any further thoughts to share on the A-10 now that you've had it for a little bit? It's one of the jets I want the most (along with the LX F-16), so I'd be really interested to know your thoughts. Especially since you made the point in the video of pointing out "for all you non-believers, this is a stock A-10."

Sure thing, they a bit weak for this plane. The plastic and gear drive system while light and look nice just don't get it. If you can grease a landing every time then your set. My experience over time showed slop developing. I went with the E Flights. I looked at the 15 size and thought they might work. I had the LHS bring in those and the 26/46 size also. There was no comparison between the 2 quality wise. While the smaller ones were lighter the larger ones where all metal construction. Installation was a breeze and they work flawlessly. The can be dressed up with some Robart strut covers for looks if you wish. The nose gear door can also be reworked but I'm saving that for another day. One more thing it's a great flying aircraft one of my favorite designs.

Ahhh, I gotcha. I thought when you said "the stock gear," you meant the "gear" as in "the electronics." You meant the actual landing gear. I'm with ya now! Thanks for the info. So you like the stock power system just fine, huh? It looked really sweet in your video.

Yep it flies like a A-10 not a F-22 with the stock set up.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the post and video of the A-10. I was attempting to filter through the 140 page thread and it was exhausting trying to get any good information from the thread. People were glassing wings and all... I'd been eyeballing the A-10 for quite awhile since it's one of my favorites. I bought the ARF due to all the "talk". After seeing your flight I think I'm wishin I bought the plug-n-play version.

Bob sometimes the easiest way out is often overlooked in favor of reinventing the wheel . Some (But not many) here have done well with their mods others have turned this into a lead sled. It makes a rather petty doorstop but Id rather have something I can fly. Funny how the OP in the "extreme" A-10 thread just pulled a disappearing act after all the hype.
