Stuffer tubes in large diameter rockets... where to put the parachute?
I had a question about the use of a stuffer tube.. the extension of the motor
tube - which is used in large-diameter rocket airframes to duct deployment
charge gases to the recovery system storage area. Clearly, this reduces the internal area which must be pressurized by the deployment charge...
... does the folded parachute go into the stuffer tube or do you keep it folded in the wider storage area in front of the stuffer tube and behind the plastic nose cone?
... asking specifically for an Estes Optima/Shadow configuration... using D12-3 or D12-5 motors and a 24 inch stock parachute.
