who do you think you are?

Did anyone watch the TV series "Who do you think you are" the other night?

They did a genealogy study on Rosie O'Donnell. Traced her roots way back to her great grand father in Ireland. A bit of a sad story all the way . He and his family were housed in a Workhouse in Ireland. ie Nazi concentration camp. Women, men and children were separated. Disease was rampant and many died. The said 3-4 men had to share the same bed. They got permission to immigrate to Canada during the Potato famine that starved over 1 million people to death. I've read a bit about that and England refused to distribute food shipped by the US to Ireland for relief.
Rossie's Grandmother was killed in a burn accident and spent 20 days in agony before dying. Rosie's Mom died from cancer when she was 10.

Times were tough in those days. I think England was involved in Genocide but that is never mentioned in the history books we had in school.

Funny, very few people know any thing about their ancestor's. I roughly know a little bit but for some reason really not interested which I find a bit strange. You would think people would have a gene for that. I know where by grand fathers are buried and that's it.

How about you?

In my Daddy's own words to someone else, "You know who your mother was and you think you know who your daddy was." So I know who my Mother was and from my appearance, I am pretty sure who my Daddy was.

My son on the other hand know who adopted him and he asked asked about anyone else and we have offered to help him find out.

Life is now, for now, and then it is done.

Me?
I'm English..
You need to read about the British poor laws.
The poor were treated the same way in England.
The rich Irish let the poor Irish starve just as much as the rich English.
Every village in England had its poor house.
Man of the house dies, the mother and children went in the poor house, children seperated from thier mother. Get disabled, the poor house, get long term ill, the poor house, get old and unable to work, the poor house.
This is why we brought out social security, help for the poor.
The rubbish you get on this forum about the poor scounging on other peoples money. It was the same mentality that resulted in the famine in Ireland.
Rich folk too wrapped up in greed to help the poor.

Today unlike long ago,

In most cases people don't mind helping the poor. Its the abusers of the system we demand to be cut off, and there seems to be alot of those.

Why should the taxpayer pay for some "very capable" female or male to laze out , pop out kids, and have all the freebees on our dime? This is your socialist system at work today!

I was really searching for, do you know your background. Appears most like me don't know much and don't really care. In my rather detached relatives there are researchers who like to trace down ancestors. I was sent from papers at one time but never got around to reading the. Reads like the Bible with Zeke begat Doilly etc. Yawn.

I know nothing of history of England except the Charles Dickens slant. I amazed he was allowed to publish his social commentaries. The life style in Scandinavia or Germany at this time I have zero info but assume it was similar. Countries track each other. I know there was a huge immigration into the US from these regions so times must have been horrible.

The US policy was to make slaves out of humans. They couldn't get much Horse Power out of the Indians so tried to kill them off and brought in Africans.

The people who did this were of course the ones who came here from Europe who had suffered greatly there. I've read that if we had not killed off the Indians the US would look like Mexico or South America.

Text books on History don't come close to these details. Germany gets a lot of heat from Genocide a few years ago but they just did what the rest of the world was doing for it's entire History. No excuse of course but that's our Genes in action put there by our God I suppose.

So whose your Daddy? And that's a whole nother subject.

I totally agree.
Now what are your ideas for improving the situation?

Evolution

Not to sure about the ape thing. My opinion is it's pigs. I see more pig like the ape like at WalMart. And pigs have litters like you don't want to hear about.

Something wrong with your educators then - yes England did appalling things in Ireland - genocide maybe not quite - but close!
