I've always wondered what the subtle flavor was. Not quite hickory or teriyaki, so it must be the Arsenic. The key to burning pressure treated lumber and car tires is to do it at night or a foggy day. I find that airplane nitro fuel serves as a good firestarter. Old heli fuel can be quite exciting.

Thanks for biting on my post Jason. Back to combat planes.....

If I didn't say somthin bad about him he'd think I didn't like him.
Besides TR knows where I live. I don't think he's too pissed or else he'd be at my door.

The best SPAD spar material I've found is at Fleet Farm. I think it's called "quality lath" and it's over by the raw wood and trim. It's a little more expensive than tru value yard sticks, but it's much better quality. 8' for $2.99 (I think). They're the same height as yard sticks, but a little thicker. And, considering you have to use 6' of yardstick or 4' of lathe for a 4' wing, the price is pretty much the same.

Just a heads up, Wal Mart has yardstick for $.50 a piece - they do not make for good spars. They usually have at least one splice in them that will come apart easily.

First of all here are the dates for vam combat!

June 6, 20

July 5, 18

Aug. 1, 15, 29

Most months we will fly the first and 3rd Mondays of the month. all will start at 5:00pm.

*** Now for the rules ***

#1 Must be a vam member

#2 Open to any aircraft .46 size engine and smaller

#3 Pilots are only allowed 1 helper in the flight area

#4 Hard hats or helmets must be worn by all in the pits any time aircraft are in the air

#5 We will be using a scramble launch, a signal will be given to start engines and we will have 90 sec to get aircraft in the air

#6 After launch you must circle the field till the engage combat is given(at the end of the 90 sec.)

#7 We will than have a 5 min. combat session

#8 At the end of the 5 min. mark those planes low on fuel or damaged will land first

#9 We will have a highlighted area of the runway for a spot landing to earn 25 points, this spot will change weekly

#10 4 points will be given for each foot of streamer remaining on your plane, ( rounded down to the nearest foot)

#11 All engines must be able to be turned off remotely

#12 We will use 5 foot of string and a 30 foot streamer to be issued out by the CD

#13 No structures, roughened leading edges, or other devices allowed on the model to aid in the cutting of streamer, sticky fluids, paste, and tape are allowed

#14 A $5.00 pilot fee will be collected weekly, this will cover supply's and than we will have a 100% payout of the remainder to the top 2 places at the end of the season.

What are others using for helmets? I'm trying to find a helmet that will not obstruct visibility but also keep my head cool... I was thinking of a baseball or bicycle helmet...
