all i could find was what is called "natural grain wood"
could be pine or spuce maybe?
bass wood would be good wood for wooden spars.
the wood i would use for wood spars would be bass wood. woudn't you?

Birch and Oak are the only two types of wood I've seen used for 12" rulers. I have seen Pine and Fir used for yardsticks or metersticks. Boxwood was a very popular wood for use in rulers due to its fine, straight grain

No yardwood is what we burn on Jan 1st.
It wouldn't be any good for a spar except in TR's plane

i just used up my last yard stick and need 1 for wades plane oh well i will just use some balsa scrap he will never know the differance!....lol

I have a truck load of wood from my old deck. It's great for making saw horses, airplane spares, campfires, and weenie roasts.

Treated lumber makes the best colored flames in the fire Probably not so good for weenie roasts with the arsenic smoke but then again you never know what's in them weenie's. Lips and *&^holes
