I wonder how blue lipos compare to skylipos, for the 3s 5K pack size I use, they're about the same price.
I am using 25C rated Blue LiPo's 5000's, 2 5S1P packs in series for a 10S1P pack. They are in an 87" IMAC plane and at full throttle, static, they are being hit for 17C (about 85 amps) A typical flight is 8 - 10 minutes and I am recharging them at 1C - 2C. Ten cycles so far and no problems. I am very happy with their performance. I paid $50 per pack and as delivered, cells on both packs were within .02v. This is the third set of batts in this plane so far and is the best performing.

P.S. first two packs I bought in '98 set me back $400! Just based on price alone, hard to complain about the Blue LiPo's!

I got my two SkyLipo 3s1p 2200 40c packs today. One pack was perfectly balanced at 3.77v per cell. The other was 3.77, 3.76, 3.77v. Not bad. I will start using in my heli and SkyFun.

HobbyPartz is having a sale on Batteries.

I was looking at some 25C 3S 1300mah pack last week that were $12.05.
They are $9.70.

Can't go wrong with those prices considering a 40c Skylipo will cost you more and you get a better pack (presumably) over the long run. Wish they had this sale before I bought the SkyLipos...

On another note....I wish I only bought 40c packs from day one...Pitch pumps hardly bog the motor in my heli now and the pack doesn't even get warm after 8 mins of flying.

I ordered Four 4s5000mah 40c Hard packs for my Electric HPI Baja. My only concern is that I was told the wire Gauge is small compared to the Turnigy packs which come with 8g wire.

I have a 2200 mah 40C 3 cell sky lipo and I run it at 50 amps almost constant and it takes in 2150 mah and all the cells balance except one is .02 volts off. It has about 8 cycles

It's likely because the way your charger calculates cutoff. On my charger it will cutoff when the amperage in the CV phase reaches 1/5th the amount the user sets for the charge rate. On 5C charges you are setting a much higher rate than 1C, and the voltage rise is higher, so those two combined lead to a cell that doesn't get as packed completely full of mah. After it cuts out you could turn the rate down and have it top them off if you are really concerned with having a 100% charge pack. But, many would argue that the roughly 95% charge you will get from 5C is much easier on the pack and will lead to longer life and more cycles.

The sale price got me to jump on two of the 3S 450mah 25C that I need for some small planes. I hope these small packs perform as well (equivalent to 40C) as its bigger cousins that has undergone testing. Would be nice if I can use 1 for the small planes and parallel them for slightly bigger planes.

I'm using Gens Ace 2S 450 25C's in a LF Yak 55 and they perform great. More amps and higher voltage than the Hyperion G3's they replaced. I think you will be more than happy with them.

Just rechecked this Sky pack after sitting for several days, and checked the IR's again. This time cell #1 was roughly .18v lower than cells #2 and #3, which were equally balanced. Oddly enough, all three cells showed an IR of 4, and a pack total of 12. So, cell #1 and #2 have remained unchanged, while cell #3 came down a bit since the pack was new.

Maybe that cell's package has ruptured?

I had two Hyperion 6S lipos that had a slow leaking cell. Those cell's voltages got lower than the others pretty quick.
