I'm looking for a low costing but still good quality esc that can handle 10s lipo.

Any suggestions welcome.

Castle Phoenix handles up to 12s

I checked out their website and the only Castle Pheonix that handles over 8s is the pheonix HV. they are all over 200$. Out of my reach.

I was looking more at around 100-130$ price range.

Has anyone tried this: great planes silver series

None of them handle over 6s. The castle models that do, are all over 200$.

Buy a Castle and be done with it. With this much voltage/current, why on earth would you risk using a cheaper chinese ESC?

I have a green models tiger moth. The weight of the plane once finished should be about 11-12 lbs. My current setup on 6s is pushing 850 watts at full throttle. I'm not sure that will be enough so that's why i'm looking at other options. I looked at other threads and most guys where running 8s or 10s for a similar plane.

Guess i'll have to save up.

I use this one with many flights in a few planes with no problems on two 5000ma 5 cell Rhino packs in series.

This is the current plane I'm using it in. With the cowl off you can see the batts hung under the motor.

I run one of these on my 17.25lb Monocoupe. Right around 2000 watts which is only about 50 amps.

I bought it in July of '09. It's only got about 10hrs of flight time on it though. The 1/4 scale plane is a lot of work to take to the field.

It SAYS it will do 12s and 110a but people do burn them up running them that hard. But if all you're looking for is 1200-1500 watts I am positive this one will work fine.

This is a 3000 watt motor Jay. But as you say, I seldom run it at full throttle. Built it back about 12 yrs ago with a Quadra 42 in it. Cap 10B by Yellow Aircraft.

What he said. I replaced a Jeti 90A ESC with a Castle HV 110 (not an ICE) and it's been perfect so far.
