Question
What TX do you use for your multicopters?

Was looking at a new TX? Considering many of the features available to add onto DIY flight controllers (GPS, FPV, stabalization modes etc). I figure the more channels the better... so I had the JR11X in mind. However I was tipped of to the use of FrSky's modules to increase range and have better spread etc. For what I understand this means going to a TX where modules can be swapped out (9303, 10C etc.). This got me thinking that "newer" might not be better and Futaba, Spek, JR might not be the best choice either.

So I'm interested to know:

What TX do you use?
What limitations have you come acrosss?
Do you wish you had, or had bought something different?
With your current set-up are you limited in what you can do with your copter etc?

Like to make a choice that an old pro would make... 'cept I'm not an old pro so would really appreciate your input.

Cheers, Jossy

Turnigy 9x , has all the options I need, lots of mixes (if you ever want them)
Running the FrSky 2,4 ghz system (module designed for JR fits the turnigy)

Fly in both airplane and heli mode with it (use heli mode-no mixing so i can get an adjustable throttle curve)

NO issues, except only 8 model memory and the build quality is a bit poor, pays to open a new one up and check the connectors etc

You should actually *order* it and wait for it to be in stock (I was quoted takes 2-3 weeks). If you sign up for notify, by the time you get in-stock email, it will already be sold out.

I think for frsky modules he's referring to this stuff:

But which one works for 9X? Futaba or JR?

There's QuadroPPM12 which turns a mix of channels into PPM sum if you just wanna buy something, and I believe there's a bunch of opensource/cheap/etc projects to do same.

FrSky V8R7SP directly outputs PPM sum without any mods, so no adapter is needed.

My 2 cents worth
I am using the Turnigy 9x V1 with corona 2.4 in tricopters and planes and it's great.
Lots of people using it so help is available for the setting up for tri's etc

I have a Walkera 2801PRO already - wondering if DIY boards wil work (with a switch) on the Walkera gear? The DHT would be nice. http://www.frsky-rc.com/ShowProducts.asp?id=76
