Not good, at least you have spares. Suppose that will be the #1 on the to do list. I'm sure I would of had the same fate as I'm the king of procrastination.

First attempt at a boat.

Hey guys, im from NZ, the home of the jet boat lol. a few mates have gone out and bought the nqd hull, done the upgrades and have a good boat. Thought id go a step further and try make my own boat from aluminium. Not having access to a tig welder, iv had to fold it from one single sheet of ali. Have just used rivets and 2 pot epoxy to fix it all together and have used cold galv to fill some of the hole. Rough I know but i'm trying to make the most of what iv got.

Hull design is completely off the top of my head, no measurements, copies or anything. have had one run with a 5600kv 2s setup from a 1/16th car but that didnt last long. Have a 3900kv water cooled job coming from HK. Still running the NQD jet unit but after reading some posts on here, it sounds like there just toys in comparison to the KMB unit.

Was using a mighty 5000mah 2s hardcase lipo in the vid, hence its bogged down heaviness haha.

nqd aluminium home made hull First run (1 min 41 sec)

Then again, Fire (in his role as an undercover rep for the model trade) must be laughing his socks off No offence, Fire, just having a little joke.

Since the KMB is so much better engineered, I'm surprised it did so much damage. Would have thought a broken impeller blade would have been the most. How big was that twig.

Mad, I dunno..size of Greece, i think..lol..but, the impeller is perfect..and the ONLY way the stator could come out was in pieces..it slides into grooves, and locks in place..go figure..

Gotta grate on it now, the

Look! it still floats with color on it!!

Sorry for the shortness, but, its getting cold, should have a hard pond tomorrow, but, best part of it is its very windy today, 20mph, or so, and very choppy..I think I'm done till spring..

But, notice there is NO unhooking of the jet..even at big speed..thats the wheelbase..lol.. being longer is the key to that, and the full strakes, and flat pad..

Can't believe the video cut out right as you were doing the pass by the camera

Boat's looking good though, needs a few bobble heads and a cage though I really like the speed... I can feel a new build coming on myself...

Nitrohead, well done on building your own. I would never even think of taking on a feat like that! Any pics of it?

Haha, yep, I'll get a big cut from KMB for that one!

Amazing that it blew out the stator and not the impeller! Could the stator have been nudged out of alignment by the twig and then shredded by the impeller?

Anyway, did my avalanche safety training course this weekend, so again no RC fun for me. Not that the weather was any good for it anyway, might not get to maiden that Icon until spring unless I do it from snow... hmm...

I second that. Apart from the Icon, Fire, make some skis to fit your other, wheeled, planes and have at it. You'll never make such long rolling take-offs and smooth landings as the ones you can do on snow.

haha! Well there's a lot of others who have nothing to do with the hobby at all, so you're doing alright.
