You're probably what, $300-$400 in already? What's another $100!

Now you're at it again. First it was $5500 for a turbine for me and now you're spending chi's money as well. How long have you been working undercover for the model trade, Fire!
We don't need any encouragement from you, my lad. If it wasn't for this hobby we'd all be much richer. Then again, we'd probably spend most of it on wine, women and song. And then the rest we'd probably just waste.

Haha, a couple of great responses there!

Chi, I understand your reasoning now! A 1000% markup would be hard to live with.

Yea. I found that one hemi kit sold on ebay/us for about $60 in Sept this year. The next one in Nov sold for around $100 and now the price of any that come up has not only gone through the roof but has carried on into outer space.

While looking for one I found a thread on an r/c rock crawler (trucks) site where somebody last year had asked Pactra/Testors about the chances of it being put back in production, because those guys wanted them to dress up their crawlers.

The reply was that Pactra didn't ever own the moulds/ and when the company moved operations to Mexico they lost track of them/ no-one now knew where they were/ therefore the chances of it ever coming back were zero.

So for those of us unable or unwilling to spend $hundreds when one comes up on ebay I guess we'll just have to get along without one.
Shame doesn't begin to describe it.

Seems like a start-up company could make a killing then by filling the void and charging $20 or so for them.

Would probably need to be someone who's already producing plastic kits (which nowadays means Eastern Europe, China or other so-called 2nd or 3rd-world countries) rather than a start-up enterprise, because of the enormous costs of getting plastic injection moulding and vacuum-deposit chrome equipment to start from scratch. And they'd probably need to charge more like $40 or $50 because, like it or not, it would always be a niche market item.

Would still make sense and be much cheaper than ebay. I'd buy one - or four or five over a period!
