Hi guys! Was awhile a go since i used this forum but ive been folowing this thread with great interest.

Was going to buy a NQD Tear into two weeks ago when i found it for 45 bucks inc shipping on ebay but i just missed it. So i ordered 2 pair of jets and the rest of the electronics for one boat. My impatience made med start to make my own hull.

Didnt find a good side view of the NQD or Graupner boat so i used what i had.
Maby my keel!? (dont know the word) is too high, will show with a new photo soon.

Got a vacuumformer at my old school so hopefully i can get a plug milled from this.

Cheers!
Henric

That's a crying shame, especially sacrificing nozzles in the attempt. If anyone could make it work I honestly thought it would be you.

Perhaps the best idea would be to start on something less challenging - like a perpetual motion machine for example.

Henric, I went and took these just now, in a rush, so they are not great pics but they maybe tell you what you want to know. This is a SicRC hull but identical to the NQD one although the definition of the creases is maybe not as sharp since it is vacformed from slightly heavier material than the original.

Hope it helps. You seem to be on the right lines already, although as you say your keel may be a shade high towards the front.

Good looking hull design..a little more reduced v angle forward of the pad would be beneficial..UNLESS you have some hook in the hull..what are the measurements on the boat?

Mad, when did ya get Steves boat???

Thanks for the pics m8! Yeah now i can tell the keel is a bit high, darn. I was thinking it would help holding the nose up and keep the jet in water but at the same time it might make the back loos grip as you said. Well i might do one more version but im gonna start on the top part now :P

The hull so far is L:430mm W:180mm H:60mm

Future design might be a Combat Boat 90 for these mini jets. Just dont think the vacuum former i got is big enough so might be laser cut in wood instead.

Jets, full size or model, dont run a deep v usually, it doesnt work well, they work much better with a shallow v, and some hull hook, to keep the jet fed in most water conditions, and its more critical in models, where we have less of everything..bigger the boat, less issues..

Its the same one I talked of in #626 and showed in #633. If you are asking why I haven't progressed with it the answer is 1) Too many other projects, not to mention necessities, taking my time and 2) Everything goes more slowly when you've only got one hand - and it is your left, when you were originally right handed. And of course 3) I'm kinda lazy We've had lashing rain and high winds every day for a month anyway, so that means there's no incentive to finish it. Wouldn't be able to play with it at the moment and I've got the two stock hulls to play with if the weather lets up.

If you are asking because of delivery times on orders from Oz, I've had it a long while but I seem to remember it took over two weeks after I ordered it. Steve sent it straight away but the post from Oz seems slow.

Heinrich H/ You may be right about the advantages of your shape. I just wanted to show the stock hull. The person to ask about how to improve on the stock hull is chidago. He's more of a marine specialist than me.

Yeah im thinking of the CB 90 in about 1/25 scale with either the graupner mini-jets or the cheep NQD jets. Would be approx 600mm in lenght. Got two graupner jets with reversal buckets and they look almost like the real ones.

Saved ur pics as reference but i guess my hull isnt that far from that hull when i look so maby it will have a go. Here are som more pics for discussion

I think you might want to cut down the keel a bit, but it looks really close.

Okey here is a third version. Tried to analyse jet sprint hulls and change the shape on the keel so the highest part is further back but still in an angel.

But, dont know ya cant do it till you it up a few times..
If you still have the sacrificed nozzles, saw one in half and glue a flat, rudder shaped plate in between the halves. No reason you can't have a rudder nozzle for the lake and a non-rudder nozzle for the creek!
