Fire great pics as usual, I miss that kind of scenery. The tree is a good laugh, I'm sure all the young fellas bring the girls up there saying "it's tradition, you gotta throw yours on too, let me help you" lol.

Chi, the boat is a screamer on 4s. I like it!

I've had loads of rain here lately so not been able to get out and run. But when it stops I think I'll be able to run the boat in the fields as they are all covered by water now!

I decided the other day, I wanted to put a better looking engine in the boat and spent a good while searching around ebay and the likes looking for something I could pull the engine off and slap it down on the boat. Not much luck unfortunately, at least not for a price I was willing to spend. So I decided forget having a great looking engine, I'll paint the one in it and add a few bits.

Bare with me now, nothing is to "scale" so to speak, but I'm content with what I had kicking around the house to make it with. Here's a list of the parts I used and some pics of the final product

Parts:
1 - Old broken card reader
3 - Red Ink cartridge refill plugs
1 - Needle
1 - Strand of yellow wire from telephone cord
1 - Cut off piece of red silicon hex driver holder
1 - Piece of aluminum for Hpi Baja A-Arm support
2 - M5 Hank rivets

So basically I used the wire to for spark plug wires. The silicon hex driver holder was cut and used as my distributor cap, The aluminum arm support was cut to form a makeshift intake manifold. The hank rivets where used to be my carburetors(dual). The Card reader was gutted, glued together, quickly painted and cut up to be my blower style intake. I wanted to add a supercharger, but couldn't find something around the house. I cut two small holes in the card reader to feed the needle through and used some red plugs from a printer cartridge refill kit to act as the butteryfly valve. It's a rough job but I'm happy enough.

In my engine searches, I did come across some stunning scale replica engines from a company called TDRInnovations.

Here's a few examples of some hemi's. But they have other brands and lots of model parts etc.

How far off would a 1/6 scale hemi be? Only $20 http://www.ehobbies.com/rmx851442.html

Thanks Chi, I'll have to pickup those losi headers now. Those engines I found where well in access of 100 dollars. The parma one is excellent too, it's such a shame they aren't made anymore, and it's crazy the money they fetch compared to what they were new.

I think it's been accepted that these boats are 1/12 scale. So that engine would basically make this boat look like a 9 foot long boat with a huge engine in it. That engine is 2x bigger than scale.

(love it though, keep wanting to buy one in case I make a larger boat.)

These would work, and the price isn't too bad, you could use one, sell the others....

At near the price of the whole stock boat without shipping, I think for mine we will do something else. Yup they do look nice tho.

John in Merrill

Must be a motor the right size on some kids toy that would get close for 1/4 those prices.
