You just described it perfectly...

Okay, that's what I have. What's the V2 tail rotor blade look like? The V1 was exactly the same as the mSR tail rotor blade.

Ah, thanks. What was the difference of the V2 over the V1 tail assembly? Just the cage around the motor? I don't think anyone ever determined if the motor was upgraded or not. Seems the same to me.

I am actually using the motor from the msr and all 3 versions are the same, the v1 is exactly the same as msr, i think they redid the coating on the end cap for v2 and v3

I got this upgrade from wowhobbies, solderless pnp

http://www.wowhobbies.com/thestevebl...r-3-1-3-1.aspx

Before the upgrade I modified the tail boom adding 3/4 length to get it to hold and it was working until I upgraded now it blows out in a simple figure 8

I was getting 2.5-3 min on stock batteries and 4-5 min on Nano-tech 300mah now a stock battery is 30 seconds and a nano-tech is 2 min I tried dropping the throttle curve from 100 to 85, little improvement

Radio = DX8 No Subtrim, All travel set to 100% but the Pitch, set to 75%

D/R A= 70/30 Fmode 100/20 E= 70/30 Fmode 100/20 R= inh

Throttle N= 0 40 65 70 80 1= 80 75 70 75 80 2= 85 85 85 85 85

Pitch N= 40 40 50 75 100 1&2= 0 25 50 75 100

I don't know about the DX8 settings as I run a DX7, but something is definitely wrong. I have the same WOW PNP brushless kit (C05 motor) and I don't get any blowouts with the stock tail. It will step out about 30-45 degrees with hard pitch pumps at the end of a battery, but it definitely doesn't "lose it". I'm getting 3.5 minutes on Hyperion 240mAh batteries, which are pretty well used. I just got a no-name 550mAh battery and logged a 7.5 minute indoor flight with hovering, low speed FF, piros and lots of pitch pumps. I like the battery so much that I have more on the way. Overall, the brushless conversion has been great and I'm waiting for Dylan to make some more 140mm booms that I can try with the stock motor to see if I can get it to hold better at the end of a pack.

My WOW kit initially came with the 120SR tail running the Novus CP tail rotor blade. It worked great, but I already crashed and broke it, so I'm back to running the stock tail for now.

I can't get the link to work did you get c05 or hp05. If you got c05 then there is something wrong because I have same kit and I didn't notice more than 30 seconds battery difference from stock. I've heard the hp05 requires a bigger battery because 300mahs don't last long at all. Especially if they are "seasoned" a bit and need to be replaced. The stock batteries are no longer used for me, they suck try lectron 300 35cs they are 2 for 13 bucks and are my favorite over all my batteries (hyperion 250s included) You can also wire 2 batteries in parallel to double the mah and get much more flying time. You might consider soldering the power from the esc to the back of the board as well. I noticed a slight power increase after doing so and it wasn't hard to do since the spots are big. Just touch the soldering iron to the solder for a few seconds before you try and solder the wire on. Wait until it starts to looks "liquid" like but don't hold it there for ever. There seems to be a film or something over it, so you need to melt it off a tad. Don't burn the crap out of it, but touch it for a second or two, take it off, touch it for a second or two, take it off. AS SOON AS you see it start to melt then solder to it. (If you decide to go that route, it's not necessary at all.

As far as the tail a 6" with my brushless was the best tail hold I could find with my c05.

I didn't find that to be true on my brushless mCP X. I had a low speed wobble, but I fixed that with a head damper on each blade grip pitch arm behind the upper part of the dog bone link. Not really the "regular grommet mod" everyone does by putting them on the swashplate balls. But, that's not to say mine won't need it in the future...
