Origin: Believed to have been developed and manufactured (circa 1985) for F2C by two experienced (German ?) Team Race modellers. The carburetor is missing because in Team Racing a special design is used.

Glow engine : Displacement 4.84 cc
Bore: 19 mm
Stroke: 17 mm
Weight: 237 g
Induction : rear rotary valve

Some identity help please

Hi All
I just recieved these as an unidentified vintage engine lot and have no idea what they are, all glo and the one on the right has a tiny glo plug, any ideas would be appreciated.

Barry, the two smaller ones have to be related to those shown in Post # 5856 !
What intrigues me more than anything else, is the fact that some of them appear to have the glow element built into the head, in a similar fashion to the 1948 H & H 45. More info please !

First came the dual needle valve idea (see bottom row, a rare FOX 29 Stunt from 1954), alternating between a fixed high & low speed. In between that crude system and the first simple throttles, came the rotating exhaust valve as typified here by the 1957 FOX box art. The rotating rod had a "waisted" or flat machined section in the middle.

My R/H one seems the same as the R/H one in post #5856 and has a built in glo plug, the other two have normal removable glo plugs. I looked up the H & H 45 and they are close except the H & H doesn't have webs on the crankcase coming down to the beam mounts. I don't know what else I can tell you, there is nothing on the engines whatsoever apart from me checking the capacity.

In Twin-Stack's pics of the Fox .35 RC, its interesting to note the off-center glow plug location in the Fox .35 head.

The large L/H is 24.24 X 23.22 10.71cc .65ci
The middle is 16.70 X 18.36 4.02cc .24ci
The R/H is 16.73 X 22.00 4.8cc .29ci
The middle one has a prop drive with an adaptor to suit a boat prop shaft as well and the two smaller ones are very similar in construction, they also all came from the USA.

Steve, that head was a special one-off, just for that engine. Some came in the specially marked pink / black / white box above - others in the standard 35 Stunt box as shown below.......

I had one of those Fox .19 RC Specials around 1964. In fact, it was my first RC engine. I could only get my escapement and linkage to work erratically, but the engine seemed to have a very reliable idle. Didn't have a tach in those days, but I was guessing about 13000 full speed and maybe 2500 tp 3000 on a 9-4 prop. It would idle for a full 4 ounce tanik, and then if I could catch the quick blip, almost immediately spring to full throttle without hesitation.

Hello !

Do you know if the F2C engine is from east germany ?
Some Parts look like a heavy Modified BWF.
Is it possible to show the engine assembled without the head ? when the liner ends at the top of the piston in upper position, that could be a clue.
I know the designer of the BWF personally, so i would ask him if he knows anything about this engine.
