I think "Micron" was the last one and they stopped production a long time ago. But there is at least one manufacturer of steam engines:

And some interest for old engines collection:

coriolan,

Those are some nice links. Thanks! I particularly like the second one with the collection of marine engines.

I did have contact with that 'chez Alice' fellow some time ago. Specializes in marine engines. Nice collection. Did you read ' Fox Engines une marque peu connue '. That's typical the French mentality I was talking about. Fox, a little known make....

Well, in France maybe they are. It may be naive but I don't see any harm in it.

Bummer, I was sort of hoping that they had a model engine company. Maybe a French equivalent to Fox or Jett or something.

He's a member here at RCG(rapmoz),there was no importer in France for Fox engines back then but they were available in Switzerland or Belgium. Cox engines were sold and I got my K&B "Sea Fury" outboard from the now defunct "Source des inventions" in Paris(Which was also selling the REA and MICRON). Stab was a manufacturer but also a retail store specializing in scale boats fixtures of museum quality, still have some old catalogs from the late 50's!
At that time the only imported engines sold were Webra,Taifun Super Tigre and a few other, the best way to get anything else was a quick trip over the border in Germany,Switzerland or Belgium which had better prices anyway

Yeah, they are little known in France, as are all model engines except Cox, OS, Enya, ST, etc.
For Earl, unfortunately there hasn't been any significant French production since Micron finally closed around 1978. You can discount "Diamant" etc, there just weren't enough made.
In fact, the only current French production is that a few repros are being made and sold on eBay France as originals, again on the basis of their being "little known" (to be legally bullet-proof, perhaps I should add "in my opinion"!).
On a brighter note, the quality of the early REA spark engines, and Micron diesels and glow, is absolutely superb. I have quite a few old French engines (must be around 200). I'll try to put some photos on Bill's MECA site shortly.

Diamant

Yes forgot about the Diamant. Very difficult engine to rebuild this was. Most parts were sealed with some sort of glue.

Micron

Well I obviously do have more Frenchies then I thought, these are Micron's albeit diesels. Sooooooorry. The smaller one made for me by Michel Molinién some years ago. I think we did swap for one of my OS ignition RLE customs.
By the way, I may have a few of my OS customs for sale shortly.

Reggie we're on the wrong thread... but you should know that your Micron 5cc is fairly rare. You have the red cast head, and not too many were made. They we're made for quite a long time (from the late fifties), but it was a period when Micron 5s weren't selling. I used to have one a long time ago (in the eighties), but I traded it with Mike Clanford before I realized that it's probably the rarest of the various Micron 5s.
The same head casting was used for the Collector version, in the seventies, but it was plain, not anodized red.

Hi All
Maybe someone can help, I have Mk.I Junior R/C and today I picked up these two, the one on the left is a PF7 Competition I guess, so what is the one on the right, is it a Mk.II and are they both Mk. II's.
Thanks BarryName: IMG_20120603_194354.jpg
