SASS Club Meeting March 8th Update!!
Just wanted to remind everyone of the upcoming club meeting and what to expect. This meeting will have a “Building Tips and Tricks” focus and several club members have offered to do short presentations on particular tips and techniques that they feel folks will want to see. After the presentations are over, folks can spend time getting more information and asking questions of the individual presenters. All club members are encouraged to bring for Show and Tell something that has helped them improve their building or repair skills.
With regards to the JR 9503 Tx w/Rx that is being raffled: As many of you may know, JR/Spektrum has just announced their new transmission modulation protocol called DSMX. The new modulation will be available in the 9503 series along with their other radios. The announcement of this change caught us off guard and when we went to order the 9503 for the raffle from JR/Horizon, we were told they are currently out of stock as they are updating to the new technology. We felt folks would rather have the new technology and so we are awaiting the delivery of the DSMX 9503. Horizon has told us it should be available late March/early April. We will still raffle off the radio at this coming meeting on March 8th. When the radio arrives, it will be delivered to whomever is lucky enough to have won the raffle. Hopefully folks will understand that this decision will allow the winner to have the most current technology available. Paul Measel has graciously offered his DSM 9503 to be on display so folks can take a gander.
In addition to the raffle, as previously announced, there are several items that have been donated to the club from former members with the intent of supporting SASS. We thought it would be fun to have a silent auction for these things as those who really want them would be able to bid. Below is a partial list of what will be auctioned.
Aerospace Composite Technologies (ACP) EZ Vac vacuum bagging kit. Complete kit for bagging wings and stuff-very cool.
Tor Style Airplane stand-one of those great stands to hold your airplane as you assemble it. Comes with a ground stake.
Salter Digital Scale-now you can know how heavy it really is!! Ounce and Gram display.
Top Flite covering iron, heat gun and covering iron sock. Good stuff!!
4 Polks Hobbies Super Micro 9 gram servos. Nice little tiny ones!
California Sailplanes Lost Model Alarm-enough said
DL-50 DLG glider. It looks complete and appears to have been flown. A great entry level DLG, complete with build instructions.
Airtronics Infinity 600A Tx w/Rx. An early computer radio with glider mixing capabilities. Comes with manuals-missing battery pack.
4 Dymond D47 servos-These set the standard for micro servos.
All items will be on display and a Silent Auction sheet will with each item. Just fill out your bid amount as the meeting progresses, check on how your bid is fairing and make a new bid, and at the end of the meeting we’ll announce the winners. Bring your check book!!!
The meeting will be held at Lakeview Elementary in Kirkland Washington. Meeting starts at 6:30 and runs until 9 pm.
Should be a good meeting-hopefully everyone can make it. And win a cool radio!!
Thanks and see you there.
