Question
Thumbs or Fingers?

Random questions but is there any advantage to flying with thumbs or thumb-and-finger??

Having taken the winter off from flying I am going to have to re-learn everything and just thought I would see if there was any reason to go with one method or the other. I have always been a thumb flyer but if there is good reason to do the thumb-and-finger method I'll teach myself.

Thanks!

I rapidly switch between both methods, often hundreds of times per second. Gives the best chance of avoiding errors or mistakes. I call it ADSAMM (Advanced Digit Switching and Alternate Modulation Method).....

Dumb thumbs? No problem, I've already switched to finger method before the mistake can have any impact on my flying. Those people who lock into one method are just asking for trouble.

I use fingers and thumbs.

My thumbs operate the sticks, and my fingers run the switches.

Thumb and fingers. Sometimes refered to as the Pinch Method. (Ouch!)

Just for grins, try searching for "thumbs or pinch/fingers". This has to be the seventh or eighth thread I have seen started in the electric heli forums alone in the last three years asking "which is better", or "which do you do". Really no need to start yet another one.

mountainsax to answer your random question - stick between index finger and thumb = better and more precise control. It takes a while to get used to but well worth it.

I disagree. Being awkward makes it less precise. My thumbs do the job much better.

There is no answer...it all comes down to preference.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably play around with both on the sim for a while. If the pinch method is more precise then I may try to get that under my belt...

Just curious...

I mostly use thumbs, but pinching does give me a little more precision, but I don't have the range that I do when using thumbs. I need to use a neckstrap when pinching though.

Lol, this topic again?

Conclusion will end up being: try both for a while and make a decision.... or stick to what you do. Pincher's sometimes like to fatten up the sticks with a skid pipe rubber or something for more grip, or an aftermarket stick end.
