Another perfect day and nine more flights. Settled on using full flaps for takeoffs and landings. I accidentally had some elevator mixing in before, so without any mixing the pitch up tendencies are not bad. The plane will takeoff without any elevator input in about 20 feet and no wind! I put the ailerons back into the normal faired position as the tip stall couldn't be tamed with upward ailerons. I did reduce the elevator travel to minimize the chance of deep stall causing tip stall. It comes in quite slow with full flaps and around 1/4 throttle.
Lovely plane, very glad to have bought it.
I weighed it today with battery and it is 2.91kg! Flies as if it lighter because the ducting is pretty efficient.
Will post a higher def video later today.
Cheers

Hi ted!
You should mention how well it flew on the two maiden flights!
Can't beat the sound of that CS fan either

Cheers

Venom

Received my Ready2Fly Venom kit 3 weeks ago. 4 Strips assembled a power pkg(well balanced 90CS fan, motor,ESC and servos) for me. Test flew the Venom-very impressive speed and stability in the air. Very rugged landing gear on grass and hard surfaces. The overall quality is excellent. Note: The balanced CS90 fan produces a very impressive turbine sound! Cheers

Check out the new RAF camoflage color scheme for this bird on R2F's website. Looks really good!

What size 6s fits this bird? I have a couple 6s 5000 and a ice lite 100 looking for a new home.

I use 6s 4000 in mine, but two guys I fly with have these planes and they both use the 6s 5000 size packs. I would think your battery and ESC would be perfect.

It takes my Gens Ace 5500 6S 25C packs with only minor modification. Most 5000mah will fit as the compartment is larger than most. A 4000mah pack is all you really need as it flies so effortlessly on less than half throttle.
Cheers

OK so I had 5 really good flights with the Venom yesterday in the first flyable weather we've had so far this year, and a flying buddy test flew his for the first time also. That's three we have in our club now, all flying well. I did have one issue on the dreaded "one last flight before I go home", the fan noise suddenly changed and got louder, so I landed immediately and found one of the screws that hold the motor in the fan housing had come out, luckily still in the fan duct. There is one small nick, about 1mm in the TE of one of the fan blades, but the (stock) fan still balances OK, so hopefully it's OK to still use it?
Anybody else still flying their Venom?

It seems you can't trust a pre-assembled fan (from the factory). I have always taken the whole assembly apart then reassemble using locktite. Had a number of those freewing fans in other models but switched to the Changesun type some time ago. A small nick in the trailing edge could be carefully trimmed out with a knife to remove any stress riser then rebalance as necessary.
My Venom is waiting for the snow to stop, but will fly again soon. One of my favorites.

Yeah I keep thinking about going over to the Changesun type just for the sound. Could I ask what motor and ESC you use with the CS fan?

I'm using the X-flight combo
http://www.x-flight.com.hk/index.php...&more=&lang=en

It is cheap so be prepared to reassemble everything. You will also have to glue in the motor bearings as they don't fit tight into the motor and will spin. After dynamic balancing, I'm very happy with it and on 6S provides plenty of power.

For the ESC I use the Red Brick 125A ESC with 5A UBEC built in. Also cheaply put together requiring some reassembly to insure the heat sink is not in contact with the motor wire solder joints. Also you have to set the timing LOW and pwm 16 for this outrunner.
