Motor setup for a Mini graphite

What motor setups are MG fliers using? I am running numbers on motocalc and nothing seems to be producing good numbers to try out.

I"m getting it strait from Barry Kennedy. I have a few friends that are good friends with him, and I have met him a few times. I just called him up. He said he had 2. Also, there is a new item that he got with them. Its some custom Vladimir made wing bags that are designed for the plane. I'm going to get one of hose too. I'm going to pick it up saturday from his house I think.

Jay's setup will produce hotliner climb rates and dive speeds, but that is not the only way to fly the MG. The 6L with 7xcp1700 or faup 1950 would also climb the plane vertically, or close to it, and the sink rate will be far slower. if you are trying to thermal there will be far more chance of actually recognising a thermal on a lower loading. Your call.

When you say the 6L thats the F5F motor right? Could, with diffrent packs, it be a multi purpose plane?

I am assuming that you mean will you be able to thermal with this plane? The answer is yes. With 10 cells the plane should still be light enough to thermal, yet have enough weight to keep it's energy.

It will thermal even when heavy. My setup is 2.4 Kg (about 86 oz not sure about my conversion of Kg to oz.)

Regards

Hi David,

Motor is Torcman 350/28 14 wind with extension shaft. (No gearbox). Hacker Master 77 controller. Cells are 18 zapped&matched CP1600 (same cell known as CP1700 too). RFM 14.5x14 prop. With this setup this MG accelerates even when vertical. Volz servos in wings and tail. With Aeronaut 15x10 prop static thrust is better but lower high speed.

Only one thing worries me is the two piece wing, I just don´t want to pull too many G as I´m alfraid that it could break.
