That P-38 is looking really nice. I hear the V2 has a slightly beefed up tail section but I'm planning to fiberglass/WBPU the joint area as I'm sure belly landing is going to cause problems. I won't have room to start on mine unless the other twin (PBY) should stop flying. The soccer field at the local school is actually in extremely great shape...golf course almost. I should be able to ROG the PBY there much easier than the Pearland park. Based on the fact that I won't have to hand toss that giant plane, it might live long enough that the P-38 won't leave its box any time soon.
Hoping for good weather this weekend so I can visit JSC again. I flew the AT-6 this morning and broke the other wing...I started using 3S 1000mah and the weight increase brought back the nasty tip stall on landing. I might have to retire it when the Skyraider and Wildcat comes in. |

YIKES...sorry to hear about the AT-6. That PBY must look awesome skimming on the plush grass on take-off. JSC was unmown this weekend and was over knee high, outside the 3 feet wide shoulder.
The P-38 surely is thin skinned on the bottom so beef it up some, unless V2 already is. Also the drop tanks will not be ground landing friendly so leave them off too. Good luck on your new planes! I just got my 70mm F-86 box from USPS this morning 3 days early from HK USA. Looks like two maidens this weekend if weather holds up and I have time for F-86. WooHoo |

3 days is awesomely fast. Mine shipped last Thurs and is expected this Thurs. Both are PNP besides needing to redo the ESC to lipo connector so might be maidening also.
That thin area of mowed grass got me with the T-6. It got too slow while I was trying to line it up with the narrow path. Bigger grass would have me just high-speed-skid it in. Now that the sun is coming up pretty early. I'm going to introduce the Jr High field to EDF tomorrow

Got a couple of lipos charged up. Woke up this morning and the forecast had changed lots, wind was blowing. Put plane away. Got to work and wind was practically gone...rats.
Crossing my fingers for this weekend but Saturday is out...relatives in town and kids going to very early b-day party. Maybe Sunday...weather permitting. |

Light wind this morning so introduced the Jr High field to EDF!!! Didn't sound too loud especially since I have to fly a lot higher than normal due to light posts so shouldn't be a problem with nearby neighborhoods at all.
Wanted to fly the MiG but ESC was completely dead. Flew fine last time at JSC so don't know what could have happened. Went with back up T-45. Boy, my hand toss technique has gotten really rusty but luckily, the T-45 is very very very forgiving to my finger mistakes. By the way, watch out for getting to JSC on weekend of June 2nd-3rd. The fake Shuttle from KSC is supposed to arrive by barge to the ramp next to the Hilton on Friday. Festivities and transport from port by Hilton to Space Center Houston is supposed to be Sunday so expect lots of rerouting of traffic if you use NASA Rd 1 to get to JSC. |
