Russ,
I have uploaded 21 photos onto my flickr site. You can access them here you can download them from there as well. Let me know if you have any issues, I will try to mail them in batches (I tried to send them all as a zipped file and gmail wouldn't accept attachments over 25 MB) |

YOu missed it!
It was great flying yesterday at JSC. There were at least 10 cars out there by the time I left at noon.
It was less than 5 mph until about 11:00. I crashed the new jet Terry gave me (sorry Terry) due to a receiver brown out. I flew one battery through it and it flew great. I put another battery in it the next flight and it took off well climbed to about 30 feet on the first go round and then dropped like a rock from straight and level flight...no control whatsoever. I had a new HK Orange6 RX in there. I nosed in and then tried to recover at the last second. When I picked it up the elevators were both in full "up" mode...the battery was ejected so it did reconnect too late. I just didn't have a DSMX receiver to put in there for this model. It reminds me why I'm upgrading all other planes to DSMX. Frustrating. I thought the plane was a total loss but I may be able to bring it back...we'll see. There were a couple of other crashes too...both were pilot errors. Russ |

Russ,
The forecaster on Saturday afternoon was way off. That higher wind didn't come around. I only had 2 lipos charged to walked to the local park with the PZ P-51 and tried out 2 soccer fields connected the long ways. Gotta learn to fly higher as I'll probably hit the light posts one of these days. I left around 10am for the Pearland house and notice extremely light winds and thought to myself...should have gone to JSC ![]() Those Orange RX are hit and miss. I ground range test all of mine and some are only good for 20 paces while others are good past 60 paces in TX low pwr mode...wide variances. |

Yeah, I flew my A-10 and the Shark and both of them have tried and true Orange Rx's and they have been flying on them for many months. I just got a bad one...it's already in the trash. The bad thing is that the Draken flew on that receiver the battery before and flew out to nice distances and it range checked to about 30 paces! Still hit and miss I guess.

hmmm...if that RX range tested o.k. and flown o.k. then either the ESC is stressed out or the lipo is dropping voltage too low. I might blame those before the RX being intermittent. I've been lucky with all of my Orange so far.
Wind is zilch on Tuesday morning...and I'm leaving for KSC this week...rats!!! |
