Take care, Roland...
Yes, I did get the response via Bruce -- not sure what's going on with my e-mail... it never showed up in my spam filter, which I check often and closely. I'll get you another e-mail address to use after your situation smooths out there...

Be Safe...

Whimp! Next thing you are going to say is that the 5.8 quake was huge. We use them to stir our cocktails.

Depends... I guarantee you at 50kts or higher you will want some ballast. That is if you want to be able to punch upwind.

I have a cinder block all ready!!!!

If that is not enough, we can use the umbrella base for my patio umbrella. That's about 50lbs

Somewhat disappointed and sad, I have to say that I'm ashamed for you to see a comment like this in this thread, of what an American has to say about his fellow Americans in view of approaching danger.....

First of all, my heart and soul is with all of you in the path of "Irene". Wish you all the luck one can wish that you and your families will live through this brutal forces of nature unharmed.
Good luck to you all and many thanks that your feel is with us here in Taiwan, approaching a weekend of hell, where like always, some of the Taiwanese inhabitants will loose their lives in uncontrollable torrents of mud and stones, tearing away their homes and even complete villages.

The same of course counts for an earthquake, where many people in lower developed countries lost their lives in smaller magnitudes than 5.8.......

For sure, middle in a dessert, surrounded by slot machines for protection, you might have never experienced even a little taste of all of it.....

Be safe...
I still remember nights spent at home during typhoons. It's pretty scary.
As seen in the map, Taiwan is small compare to typhoons, no where to evacute.

That makes Irene look rather tame... best of luck with that one.
Amazingly powerful looking piece of nature, not to be dismissed or challenged.
All the best,
Eric

Roland now that the storm has passed how did you come out? We are all hoping for the best here in Colorado. Please give us a report when you have time.

Here in NY, we got lucky with Irene in that it weakened as it came in.

hoping you had the same luck as we did with low casualties and lesser damage. We are without power over much of Long Island.

Best of luck to you and your family and friends,

Frank
