Ulf,

You can still use the batteries at 3C (or any C), you just have to increase the capacity to match your amp draw.
(Amp draw / 3C = Minimum Capacity). But you knew that already, eh?

I assume then, that you leave those lipos "out in the country" and don't transport them in your flammable car or bring them home to your flammable house for "known safety practice's" recharging?

... which will increase the weight - as usually the capacity scales linearly with the weight - I think that is what Ulf is taking into consideration as well..

Right, increase the weight enough and you might as well be using NiMH.

im scared now, maybe i should just go back to
nitro planes, then again thats flamable too..

You may be right, but it would be hard now to give up the ease of charging. Gone are cycling, peaking, etc. Now I charge when I get home from flying and I'm ready to go for next week!

Daren, it's a trade-off. The Li-poly packs are a hassle in one way and the NiMH packs are a hassle in a different way. Different people are coming to different conclusions, and I assume that everyone is correct because they are doing the right thing for themselves. I think the only time people get in trouble is when they try to do what they think they should do based on what other people are doing rather than doing what they think is best for themselves.

Many new technologies bring new risks but also new opportinities ...

The new risks involved should be clearly and squarely addressed by the manufacturers and vendors involved.

I gues a nitro plane(not a jet!) won't burn that fast as an damaged lipo!
I had to throw a lipo away also today,she was very swollen end had a real nasty smell!The faster it's out of my house,the better!
