The A3D Skywarrior was pretty successful. So successful, in fact, that the Air Force pressed for a derivative, which became the B-66 Destroyer.
Also, there is an XB-43 in the Smithsonian's Gerber/Silver Hill facility. It was used as an engine test bed. Neat place, Silver Hill. They encourage visitors to talk about what they know about the planes on display. When we went, we had an F105 crew chief, who told us a lot about the bird. Bill B. |
