Benny, it is probably the same P-59.
There can't be that many of them.I saw it as seen in your photo 5-7 years ago.. I wondered about the idea of flying it at all.
Certainly making it flight worthy would be an enormous expense.

That's a composite. I'd found a spot outside the perimeter at Plant 42 where an airplane on the glideslope would be high enough to get it all in with a normal lens, and photo'd two L-1011s...
The right side is #1079, one of the PSA birds.
There's a pad behind the nosewheel which we had to add to protect the under-floor lounge in the nont-needed (by PSA) forward cargo compartment, as the lounge was occupied during takeoffs and landings.
The pad was to keep the nosegear out of the lounge in the event....
That's a standard -100 Tristar.
On the left is the first -500 for British Airways. Shortened nose, shortened tail.
The motors are different . On the right is an original RB-211, without the hot-stream spoilers, which were removed as being too much trouble to maintain.
On the BA airplane is an RB-211-524.
Oddly, I'd done the composite on my own, but it became part of a press-release package.

We never used a PW motor. Too large in diameter to fit the #2 position. The GE was never tried either.
With over 50,000 # of thrust from the -524, nothing more was needed anyway.

For anyone interested, designed by the Howard Hughes group. First one had contra rotating props, one of which reversed while Howard himself was on approach. The crash came real,real close to killing him. From his hospital bed he ordered a new one without the contras, (in the same way one of us would order up a new GWS Moth) and it flew "satisfactorily". Very,very fast with two corn cob 4360 engines, never produced.

It's wierd, so it's French!
Guessing now,,, built from Heinkel plans by Farman as the He-274... post war completed and flown as the AAS 01A.

Yup!
On the right is the nose of an Me-262.
Behind is an F4U, and behind that a TBF.
The O-47 shot is from the other side of the junkyard towards those.

It's a B-47 with the front end of an F-111. This thing flew out of LAX way back when. It did a lot of touch-and-goes at Palmdale in the early '70s.

I'm in a state of confusion. I watched the movie Space Cowboys last night.

I feel some aircraft restorations are too valuable to fly but...

Tommy Lee Jones lines last night was to the point that an SR71 sitting on the ground was not at all what it's all about, it only exists to fly.

But when we see more restored aircraft dissappearing in clouds of smoke????

Suppose we can't have it boths ways sighhhhhhhhhhhh
