Correct

Yep both Bobby Hitchcock and Keith Anderson died of thirst in the Tanami Dessert while searching for the Southern Cross. A loose valve forced them down and was repaired but the terrain of thick scrub stopped them from getting airborne. They were found but too late. The Widgeon remained in the dessert and was burnt by bushfires until Dick Smith set out to find her. She has now been recovered and is on display in the NT in the same form as she was recovered, ie a heap of burnt metal.

Kingsford Smith was accused of orchestrating his disappearance to generate interest and therefore funding, they survived and were found after eating Coffee Royal biscuits to survive, Hence the Coffee Royal Affair.

At least I think thats the way it panned out.

Chalk down, any questions?

Not mine, I found it on a Pommy site, I'd better go back and give credit to the builder.

This one has probably been done?

Must be one of the best looking twins around. Is there a plan around?

Looks like a Mitsubishi Ki 46 Dinah, probably the one at RAF Cosford. There are plans on one of the russian sites but they aren't great.

Now for an also-ran contempory of the Dinah.

In trying to find your 4 engine bomber, I came across this. Should be easier than yours.

Has me going. The inverted engines look familiar and the tail design also. Looks like the pic was taken at a show somewhere but can't work out where.

I'll keep searching....

Looks like yours has a lot of DC-4 in it. Mine is the Nakajima G8N Renzan (codename Rita). Only 4 prototypes were built.

Nakajima G5N Shinzan (Liz)

http://www.wwiitech.net/main/japan/aircraft/g5n/

Japan lacked sufficient experience in designing and building such large aircraft, and so the Navy made arrangements for Japan Air Lines to purchase the sole prototype of the American Douglas DC-4E four-engined transport. Simultaneously, the Navy contacted Nakajima and instructed them to be ready to develop a long-range bomber from the DC-4E when it arrived in Japan.

This is probably why America thought all Japanese aircraft had to be copies of other aircraft. Until the Zero started to demonstate just how good the Japanese designers could be.

Looking at the tail-it doesn't look real-maybe a mock up for a movie, or a restaurant?
