Basically

This aircraft has been recovered form all over. Used to strafe beaches rather than high altitude bombing.

Oh and for this one who can name the lady?

The easy one, is it the Boomerang?
I have to admit this thread has reminded me that I know little about Australian aircraft. Never seen one with a spinner.

Oh and Rich, despite my backlog of kits, the 50" Whitley sounds great.
Any more info?

A shot (or two) in the dark

Lady Mountbatten. Although I doubt she would appear in unpressed clothes.

Why was the front turret removed, if it wasn't used for towing?

P.S what is your avator-looks like a Halifax or Lincoln in prototype colour scheme-but something not right about the nose
P.P.S What happened to the Halifax you were building a year or so ago?
Re photo : It's the combination of nose + engines + fins that's unusual. By the time the square fins got onto the Halifax, the early ones with the 'Tollerton' nose and Merlins generally weren't updated as they were too old by then. I only know of one other Halibag in this condition.

Yep, my avatar is one of the prototype Lincolns. PW 825 I think. The only thing unusual about it is the 'jolly' yellow undersurfaces. I lived on a Lincoln base in the early '60's, so I'm a bit of a Lincoln nut.

Progress on the Halibag is slow due to frequent business trips to Korea. I may take a week off work just to build.

Cheers !

Yes and there have been a lot of oilers made but never seen an electric? The wing look good in the air, similar to a Dak or a Havard.

Nope but she was a graceful singer when she was out in the field.

Not a Boston

Very close though, used in greater numbers by the RAAF than the Lancaster, (Aussies in RAAF service)

The pic was taken not far from my place but not the RAAF Museum

No! Gracie Fields? No one here will know who she is even after posting her name.
Anyway, never saw her looking that good!
And I might point out that the three names I posted were the wives of the 3 Aussie Prime Ministers during the war.

Oh and Beaufighter?

She was my father's favourite singer, probably saw her in New Guinea. Dad was in the 2/6 AIF, Army. Middle East, Greece, and New Guinea.

Not a Beaufighter, bigger. They flew at very low altitude along the beaches strafing, taking terrible damage. One was used to film the Battle of Briton Movie by Salzman.
