Nine Eagles coaxial disassembly: Bravo III


Remove fuselage by undoing screws and separating halves
Some joints are glued. I opened mine the fun way - crashing!
Remove LED wires from circuit board (cut or solder)


Undo screws to remove lower gear, inner shaft and upper rotor .
Pry off press-fitted upper gear.
Pull outer shaft upwards to free from bearings.
Pull press-fitted landing gear off frame.


Collar should be fitted with the raised edge facing down, on the bearing.
A gap should be allowed between upper and lower gear.
I'm not sure how the inner-shaft key should fit in lower gear!
I have the one screw all the way in and the other only half

Fitting the MIA S-300 kit


Cut parts from frame with sharp scissors or knife.
Sand rough edges and assemble with CA according to instructions.
Fit landing gear with o-rings to stabilise frame for glueing.


Liberate the battery connector and gain useful material.


Glue battery connector to frame.


Assembled with new inner-shaft and swash plate.


Glue adjustable front mount in foremost position, filed down to clear servo gear.


Glue recycled landing gear to main frame to mount canopy and frame.


Done! Presenting the Bravo III S300.


Glue elastic band to inside of canopy.


Add 5mm of soldering wire for stability.



Initial impressions:

• It is dramatically quieter, generating similar noise level to S107.
  Stock Bravo fuselage definitely amplifies motor noise!
• B3-S300 with heavier fly-bar feels much more stable and precise than stock Bravo III.
• New inner-shaft and swash alleviated T.B.E, though a small amount remains.
• No give in non-slip landing gear is a big contrast to springy stock item.
• It feels like a new prettier and better quality helicopter. Somehow even the yaw trim has stabilised. Needless to say I'm very happy with the results so far.
