Can't wait till the antenna's from Alex come in, hope that will make a difference.

Just in case it won't.... I've also ordered a 1500mw 900mhz video rx/tx combo
I already doubted you had the same problem, because you had reception at short range. With my Airwave video-Rx, when I attached the CL/SPW-antenna video-reception was totally gone. Even without antenna it was better!

What type of Airwave-module is in your Fatshark? Is there anything like "AWMxxx" written on the circuit-board?

1500mw 900Mhz, bad choice IMO!
This frequency is used for mobile phone. You'd better choose 1.2Ghz 800mW or something.

Will check the unit tonight.

I've chosen the 900mhz because a friend of mine uses a 900mhz 1watt, he's very pleased with the results he's getting.

I use the same. I've just turned the Tx to the highest channel it can use to get above the phone signals. I think it's at 1010Mhz.

Thanks Alex im gonna be flying 0.9G ... so the Helical will be quite Lagre off memory something like 30x40cm or 60cm

i know the Helical will have a better rejection than the CP double quad, but i have a UHF LRS on its way with the tracker.... still Helical? as the CPDQ is your newest?

for now i wont be flying more than 5-10km. so ill make a Helical 4 or 5 turn? or you fly a 4 1/4 turn?

with a Clover on the vTX ? or the SPW?

Thanks so much for your efforts still apreciate it a lot!

cheers
Willie

regarding the thickness of wire used to build the CL and SPW
previously i had used the same wire to make both the CL and SPW .. on 900mhz
had very good results ...

now i changed to 1.2g and made new ones as per 1.2g measurements ... 0.9mm welding wire on CL on vtx to save some weight and 2mm steel wire for the SPW on vrx to withstand some rough handling
results were BAD compared to previous set up
i will build another set with same wires and compare ... when i find the time

MUST we use the SAME WIRE SPECS for building both VRX and VTX ??

I'm using 0.8mm welding wire on both tx & rx @ 1.2 and ALL works fine

No. Wire thickness is almost irrelevant. i would guess it was some outside influence that caused the lesser reception problem.

test was done in the SAME EXACT LOCATION (in my house)
with all the same electrical appliances wifi etc etc ON
the only difference was the frequency used .. previously 980mhz .. now 1160mhz
tried a few different frequencies on the setup from 1080-1200mhz .. same results (BAD)

out of wire now .. will report back once i get new wires .. same ones on vtx and vrx

Wasn't sure where to post this and maybe it's been answered already but I was wondering if the Cloverleaf and Skew Planar Wheel antenna don't cause a lot of aerodynamic drag or whatever you want to call it?

I was planning to put a 1.3Ghz one on the wing but was worried that it will have a big effect on how the plane flies.

Anyone have any experience with this?

foxtech 5.8ghz 200mw tx and rx

I got it in the mail and have got it to work for about 2 minutes max. it keeps going in and out.

its like it wont switch channels when i try different ones. on the tx it seems to work when i have sw#3 down and the rest up ch6 i believe. but the rx doesnt tune to it. It is distorted.
what can be causing this?

I am trying everything stock
