The black units on the short stock are originals. The longer stock is not. The helical was also built by one of my crew.

A little more general question. When making cloverleaf / scew planar etc, antenna it is easy to attach/hold the wire to the center part of the r316 cable by bending a very small hook in the antenna wire. When it comes to measurements, the wire length should be the "exposed" part of the wire, and hooks, legs etc for attaching not included in the actual antenna length measurements?? Is that correct? So I can add an extra millimeter or two to allow for the hook?
Love your work IBCrazy !!! Thanks, Mark |

so went out and did some fun testing today with my bixler + video goggles
I set the bix on a picnic table on the beach with a 500mw 5.8 transmitter and a cloverleaf antenna, then drove off to a point 4km away and tested the reception. Got a fuzzy but useable picture off the SPW on the goggles, and a perfect picture with the 7 turn helical. of course both tx and rx were only 3-4 feet above the water level the whole time. I drove further and tried 7km... no go |

hey guys, im planning to do a CL and SPW for 1.2/1.3 in the near future. I want to do a side feed for the SPW as its going to be on my wing...does anyone one have a close up pic's on how
4 of the lobes are connected to the shield? I noticed Alex on your first post, the pictures, but i cant quiet make it out. I've made antennas for my 5.8 and they work awesome. but both are base feed. I just need a few close up shots to show how they(from what i can pic out) 4 lobes soldered to 2 arms of the outer sheild cheers |

^For 1.2GHz it doesn't matter. You can pass the cable right over the crossed lobe sections and solder it down, then turn the center element up.
