I promised mcross the first one off the line many years ago. I want to honour that. My plan is to cut the parts out for the 30mm version(just resize this one) and bag it up to Mike. If he can put it together without having to think too hard and all the pieces fit, we'll have a winner.

Congrats with this way cool achievement!! I'd like to add my name to the list for any kits you get round to doing... Don't know anyone in Sun Starved Scotland playing with this kind of stuff.

Run the 1015 on low timing.

I just redid the measurements.

Components
  • 1015 inrunner
  • 25mm shroud - no lip available
  • 3 blade rotor (GWS 6 blade rotor clipped and chopped to 3 blades)
  • 240mah 3S lipo (Hyperion G3)
  • 10A CC speedie used
Results

Here an oddity:
  • Amps = 4.7A
  • Watts = 47W
  • Thrust = 47g

Motor temperature was 40.2°C.

Thanks Strike. Yup, the tweaking definitely made it fly great! It was great to have a nice blue sky to fly in too. We'll have to get more video next session.

Specs don't mean much, real life results does! The motor can handle 2S fine with good cooling even in a 30mm fan, and when you don't load it too much (22-25mm fan) and use small batteries with limited current capability you can even go 3S.

Our edf rotors are significantly smaller than regular props. As long as you do not exceed a certain wattage, everything is/should be good.
