I'm pretty sure mine are 25mm right across, easier to match.
If you go for spec, it's sure to work but 25mm width is about as small as I would go to give the surface enough rigidity. It's quite a long aileron and working it from quite near the inner side you will want it to be able to cope with wind pressure on it when at full tilt. If I were to mod the control surface at all, I would have the inner-most area bigger, making the fixed wing area a bit more prallel to the LE, but not much, maybe 25mm narrow to 40mm wide.
It's easy enough to cut new ailerons in, if after a couple of flights you want to try something different, but first outing I would stay closer to 25mm parallel control surface. Hope this helps

Craig, nice tidy build
25mm wide ailerons with max mechanical throws i.e. furthest hole out on servo arm and lowest hole on control horn will be very aerobatic. When you get to the maiden I'd launch on 50% rates and say 30-40% expo on the aileron and elevator and adjust back from as required.

Thank you Andy and for the rates / expo info.....cut in and hinged rudders today, 33mm deep and about 80mm long, will have to angle in the ends of the elevator slightly so as not to bind on the rudder at full deflection but looking good so far...Craig

Canopy looks great does it house any electronics or is it purely for aesthetics....may have to do something similar if you don't mind me using your idea....Craig

Go for it, that's what this hobby is all about. Sharing good ideas, and no to housing anything.

Now that all the excitement about the Flyguys has calmed down I have some
time to revisit the Funbat.

The Old Funbat has had many builds and mods and I decided to revisit my layout
to see it I couldn't improve things a bit.

I've Lengthened the Nose about 1" for those having trouble getting the CG forward.

I also put the Wing and KF doubler parts together so they are now one piece.
To do that, I changed the CUT LINE and tab for Fore/Aft Wing parts.
A very minor misalignment was fixed as well.

So NOW you can cut out your Funbat from 1 1/2 sheets for Depron or whatever.

I'll be offering them at the same price as materials and cutting time Have not changed

See the new layout attached above.

Looking forward to Spring FINALLY !!!

Does anyone have any pics of a battery tray and how it's made for the funbat with extended nose including any restraints to prevent movement in flight. I assume speed controler and RX will sit below the battery tray taking into account CG obviously...just the servos and motor to install after that so any help would be appreciated...Regards Craig

Hi Craig
Use "Tread tools", "Show attachments.." to find photos. Then click on "post/pict.." to go to the full post showing the picture. Here is how I did my first one.

You can see the esc and rx position underneath the lipo compartment before I sealed up the bottom. Cooling air comes into the bottom and top section via a slot in the ply motor mount and cut out in the depron lipo tray. It exits via a hole further back underneath. The lipo is just held in with a strip of velcro although you could add a strap if you wanted to.
