binding spectrum receiver problem

I am trying to bind my spectrum ar500 receiver installed in a new aircraft to my dx6i which i have done many times before. When I plug the battery in to the ESC the led on the receiver only blinks once and the servos center but the led doesn't continue to blink and the receiver will not bind. Thought maybe it was the receiver since it came out of a wrecked plane, but had the same thing happen with another receiver. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help,

Dan

Is your transmitter off when you plug in the battery?
Do you have the bind plug in the right port on the rx?

Maybe dumb questions on my part, but it's a good place to start

Fixed the problem. After posting my problem I found a post that suggested trying a different bind plug,....that fixed the problem. Are bind plugs different for different receiver? I have a couple different receivers, but put all the bind plugs in one plastic bag. Thought maybe bind plugs are specific to the receiver model. All of them are Spectrum.

Nope, all they are is a connector that has the two outer pins connected.

But I have heard of bad bind plugs, probably a missed crimp or a broen wire inside the insulation.
