B450 3D Live in US

The Blade 450 3D has gone live in the US:

Not just a warmed-over 400, it's basically a whole new machine (yes we kept the motor from the 400, but that's the only major component carried-over).

Thanks, Dave. Since I do servicing on the Blade line in the LHS, I will be very interested in what changes have been made and what parts can be used to improve the existing 400's that are out there. I would rather use updated parts from the 450 on a 400 in for servicing. Take care.

It's virtually a new heli, with almost zero parts interchangeability. You can't simply upgrade a 400 to a 450 by swapping parts; the DNA is completely different. Main shaft, spindle, head block, tail shaft are all different (and beefier), with all associated parts designed to match. The tail mechanism is totally new and the tail boom is a larger diameter, so the new tail won't fit on the old boom. All of these changes were necessary to get the kind of performance we wanted. It's the main reason we didn't call it the "400v2," because it really is a different helicopter.

Dave:

Very interesting. I will certainly be all over it when they arrive in the shop. Thanks.

I see that HH has hop up dampeners for the 450 head, I hope they fit the 400 as well!

Here are all the parts that seem to be the same, as listed on the parts page:
main blades
flybar
flybar seesaw holder
flybar paddle control arm
flybar paddles
washout base and washout control arms
swashplate
tail drive gear
tail boom supports
various other parts

as far as im concerned, a 400 can be upgraded to the 450 chasie if you want.
Buy a new frame, tail boom, tail assembly, mainshaft, head block, main grips, and gears and you practically have a 450.
If you have a really bad crash you might as well upgrade! most people with a 400 already have the electronics upgraded anyways.

I noticed they upgraded the receiver and radio on the 450. Will the B400 dx6i work with the new receiver?

Hey Dave at Horizon,

Still need to see some proper electrical specs for the new 35A ESC, MEMs gyro and the 420 motor ... without specs they're just toy parts ...
