Hi guys, I know it's little bit off-topic, but 2 serious crashes I already had, and now I must ask: if anybody know a good (or at least any) simulator for Mac OS X ? I am running my Mac and had to install Parallels Desktop (+Windows XP Pro) just to be able to use Reflex XTR. And still have some problems trying to connect my DX6i to it (I can try up to 10-15 times to connect and disconnect untill its recognized).
When I use other PC (Windows based machine) there problem of connecting doesn't exist - but this computer is in my office where I suppose to work instead of trying my flips, rolls and inverted flight!

Sell the Mac and get a PC like an adult. LOL JK

The only one I know is AeroFly, but I don't have any personal experience with it so I can't tell you if its any good or not.

The Blade 450 3D uses a new design on the main rotor blades (BLH1615). The blades used in the Blade 400 3D look similar but are not the same (EFLH1415A). Although these blades work fine on the Blade 400 3D, the Blade 450 3D is a more powerful helicopter and using EFLH1415A will create an unsafe condition. BLH1615 is safe to use on BOTH the Blade 450 3D and Blade 400 3D.

Look at the blade mounting hole, if there is a brass insert, the blades are BLH1615, otherwise the blades are EFLH1415A and should not be used on the Blade 450 3D. It is all related to aerodynamics, force /stress developed on the rotor head and blades, strength of materials of blades etc...

Per Phoenix instructions, you should make a new profile and leave the throttle/pitch curves, expo, travel adj, etc, at default.

I just think E-Flite should have done somthing more. Dont get me wrong, I have a B400 and its not a bad helicopter. Its a CP heli that can do loops and rolls out of the box, just charge the battery and go! It just needs better servos, ESC and gyro to really be able to do 3D.

With this new heli, E-Flite slapped a new Align style canopy on it, stuck some new E-Flite micro servos in it and put a new gyro in it.

They have done good stuff, but they could have done more with this heli.

This is just my opinion,

Hunter

I agree to a point; I LOVE the B450, they did a fantastic job for an incredibly low price. It doesn't get much better for beginners.

One thing I was hoping was that they would follow Walkera's and their own mCP X's lead and go flybarless. My best guess is that they wanted to keep the price down since its already inherently aimed at beginners.

Also, they didn't just throw on a new gyro and servos. The frame, head, and tail mechanics are redesigned and with a boom-mounted tail servo. The ESC is also now a 35 amp instead of 25 amp.

+ 1.
Would've been way more expensive if it was flybarless.

Having it flybarless would jack up the price a little to much IMO.

When can we expect the Blade 500?

Nick, I'm not trying to argue with you, but I do not really see how they re-designed the frame.

I noticed the Blade 450 on Phoenix is a lot easier to control than the 400, Is it like this in real life also?

It is different, the B400 and B450 frames are not interchangeable. That pic is also cropped so that you can't see the differences in landing gear or tail servo mounting.

There is not a lot of design difference in the two frames, but there is a larger boom and a slightly larger gyro pad on the 450 frame. There are lots of differences in the individual parts and there is no doubt about the change to the head, feathering shaft, and tailshaft.

As to power?, no, they use exactly the same motor and pinion, with only a two tooth difference in the maingear. It nets a small increase of 39 rpm average over the Blade 400 gear. The 400 uses a 140 tooth gear and the 450 3D uses a 138 tooth gear. That does not make it way more powerful, in fact, there will be points in the power curve where both have the same rpm. There is no doubt, however, that the 450 blades are a better and slightly stronger design.
