Can you put a more powerful motor in this plane? for better vertical and higher speed? I think current is a 900kv outrunner?

Yes, go with an e-flight power 25 or equivalent.

I'm using a Tacon Bigfoot 25. It makes about 650W on 4S with a 11x8x3 MAS prop

I had a little mishap today (stupid trees). The plane did OK, only suffering minor damage. I did, however, loose the plastic cover from one of the nav lights. Any suggestions on replacing it?

Hobbylobby carries a thin plastic that can be heated and molded. I used that to make the light covers on my DC-3 that is on my blog.

So I accidently ordered the 5/32 size Durbo nose gear instead of the 3/32. Whoops. I did get the pre-bent one as well. Also, I went with the 3'' wheels due to the grass I land on. I didnt think it would work because the nose gear is too long. But I didnt want to re-bend and cut it so I just modified the firewall a bit to accomadate it, lol.

The spring portion is up in the cowl, I'll get a better picture of it next time. But as for how it works, its GREAT. I can actually taxi and steer through that grass you see. The nose is still a bit longer then the main gear, as you can see the tail is almost on the ground (especially in the grass). But it also helps with limiting prop strikes. Take-offs and landings have been really smooth actually. If it was asphalt or concrete it would probably drag the tail too much and cause some scraping.

I've been getting better at landings, so with practice and some larger wheels its been a bit of a good combination.

PS: thats my original cowl, epoxied a few times. I didnt run a spinner cap that day, the nut holds it anyways. And I hate trying to take it off without break it.

The 5/32 is great. I was using it as well. It can survive a nuclear blast. The unbent one actually work better (for the reason below). The bent one results in a NG which is too long. I suspect as is you will have some bouncing. It looks too high. It may be difficult to touch down on the mains first. I was in a similar position with the bent 5/32 one.

Yes it is nice how tough the 5/32 is at least. I'm not tough enough to re-bend it like you though

For grass its almost perfect. I thought about the issue with not hitting the mains first and nosing it or something. But so far I havent had a problem.... I dont know if its me getting better at landing, or that it isnt as big of deal that I thought it was going to be.

Good job though on the bend. Looks great. Are those 2' 1/2'' wheels?

I find that landings are easier on the front gear if a little caster is added, so that the axle is behind the line of the steering; it makes the wheel pull into line automatically, and I get less flex in the control wire. A slight bend between the spring and axle, near the wheel, is all that's needed for some caster. Add enough, and you may not need the servo to steer it directly, just rely on the rudder.

Sound like my crash...I used clear shipping tape folded over the corner and it's been on there for about 40 flights.

2 3/4". Since the pic was taken they were put on the mains as well. I suspect that it will be more bouncy on a paved runway. At that posture it looks almost like a tail dragger... Which reminds me, that is a cool mod to do. There is actually a tube that leads to the tail so you can actually steer if you convert it to a tail dragger.

Cant wait for my nose gear piece to get here!!! I am itching to get this plane out, out of 3 planes I have this is my favorite due to how easy it is to fly and land
