It was built from scratch by Ryan Vu (stikmunkeyrc) for last year. We bought it from him a couple months ago and he's been helping us getting it all together.

that's solved ( AFAICT ) by using the AUS specific firmware in the XTend 900's. the X-CTU software allows you to load different firmware/s to them. :-)

Yeah but that's no composite carbon fibre airframe that can last through all the flight testing.

Mick, just a query about insurance - you offered it last year correct? Did it cover the development and testing period? Will that be happening again?

There were two levels of insurance last year. One to cover the team to fly at the event and the other to cover the event and any test flights associated with development for the Challenge.

However, we have not yet approached the insurer for the 2012 competition. Given that we have now changed the rules to require at least 5 hours of autonomous flight then the insurer will need to review and update the coverage.

We will update teams via email when there is more news on insurance.

The "unopened" is in reference to the dropped container, I.E not puncture, ruptured or split, the Marshall must be able to open the dropped container and retrieve at least 500ml of life saving liquid.

What you choose as the container is completely up to you.
