For the experts...

Has anyone out there ever seen one of these (see pics). I called Millipore Inc. (the manufacturer and a division of Merck) and the tech there told me that this unit is even older than the obsolete items in their 2002 catalog. He is looking into the company archives to see if any literature/manuals exist for it. Anyone have any idea what the two containers are for on both the "in" tube and the "out" tube?? The clear glass one is on the "in" tube and inside of it there is something that looks like a small filter with a whick attached to it to absorb whatever liquid goes in there. Are those condensation filters? Also, there is no regulator to set the vacuum amount and the motor is rated for continuous use. How would I set the amount of vacuum and keep it steady? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
