Wow, DWA is still alive! How ya doin' Dave?

Hi Keith. Yes I am still kicking. I have not been flying or posting much but I plan on changing that. Now that life is back to normal.
My 11 year old daughter got very sick this last summer. She had to have hospitalization and after that needed 24hr care and needed a feeding tube for about 5 months. Very scary stuff. Worst thing I have ever been through seeing my baby girl sick like that.
Thank God she is all better now.
I see you have been chatting a bit. Wow 9000+ post. I do remember back when you just had a couple hundred. good to see a few people I still know on here. A lot of new peps on here. Thats good too.
I am looking forward to comming out and flying with everyone soon. Can't wait for the PSS fest this year!

Omigosh.... so sorry to hear about your daughter, but so glad to hear she's OK!

I trust you'll be able to get back into RC mode without too much difficulty. You should join us at Wayne's house for our "build" parties. First Thursday of each month. Lots of fun to hang out, BS, talk shop, and maybe even build something.

NE wind kicking up in north Oc. Maybe it will get down south pretty soon. If it does, someone please let me know. I'm off today

Yeah it was very bad, and very serious for a while there. But she is back 100% now. Has been for a couple of months now.

We even went to Disneyland last weekend and got annual passes.

To answer your questions on my mustang.
It's is an LEG 60" P-51.

Ill start with I am very critical of my own work.

1) I need to get some kind of applicator tip for goop. I use a silicone here I am hoping that is the same size. My bead size on my canopy was inconsistent.
You can see goop in the seam.

2)Panel lines font match well leading to some not straight lines going over the fuse. (I will start there next time)

3) paint too thick. Will be impossible to iron after a crash.
(Looks good now though )

4) messed one of the stickers up by getting alcohol on it. (Removed some ink)

5)dindnt put the spinner line on. Couldn't get the tape right.
Left it off. (Need to find a better way. )

All this leaves me slighty unhappy with the finished product.

Please don't get me wrong. It flew great. It's a vast improvement on my first pss build. But like with all things there are things I think could be better.
But I am proud of it.

Rubio, go to an art supply store and pick up some drafting tape (sometimes called chart tape). You can get some 1/16" wide black tape (it's crepe paper tape, like regular ol' masking tape). It will easily wrap around the nose along the line of the spinner, and really helps to set off the look of the nose.

Hey Dave! Good to hear all is well again, looking forward to seeing ya at the fest as well!!

I pulled my socked fuse out this morning, and I'm not happy at all with the finish . Trying to save on expenses I went with 2 different sizes of sock and shrink tube, which meant large visible seams that had to be sanded. The wing saddle is the worst, and will have to be filled. There are also spots where the resin whitened. I used a torch to shrink the tubing on top, I'm thinking I scorched the resin in some places . I might end up filling what I can with bondo and painting it, or just leave it alone. The good news is where the finish was good it looks really good, and the fuse feels like a freaking baseball bat, totally orni-proof !

Welcome back Dave. Not sure I've met you but I've seen your posts around and look forward to sharing the friendly and sometimes not so friendly skies with you.

Jordan that looks about par for the course and not so bad at all. What I would do is sand down the seams and make sure every where is nice and smooth. Once done give it a thin coat of resin and you should be good to go. The saddle area may require some bondo but really if the rim area is smooth you should be fine and besides that aren't you going to be cutting a whole in the saddle for wiring?
