Hi Nelson,

Interesting plane. I see you have made your choice for the paintjob. It will be a one of kind plane. Julien has a thought about using this plane as a basis for FPV flying. It has potential. What are the dimensions of this plane?

I'm very interested to see how she performs.

Robert

Just found some footage of the plane in flight. I think I might just need one as well... Julien, do you have a European supplier which carries this model?

Hi Nelson,

Nice modifications! Keep on going, I'really like to see how she turns out in the end. Flaps are a nice addition, how about air brakes for a glider to slow her down upon approach of the runway. This might be the last plane Adriana lets you have . Did you put skids or small wheels at the wingtips?

Nelson,

Can't wait to see your U2 fly, it looks fantastic already. What size EDF powers it?
All the best
Andy

PS.. does this sound familiar..."my EDF jet flies 100 miles per hour!!!!"...LOL

Andy,
It's a 64mm edf with a 4300kv bsl motor, now I'm just waiting the weather to give me a break (just to not repeat the Cessna movie).
Really a good model but not to fly 100mph, lol, and you? already bought the cessna? What you think in buy one U2 too , I think Claire would agree with Adriana about our hobby...

Robert,
For the wingtips I will install little wheels like "internally" on the tips reinforcement structures to protect the foam when landing in pavement and not loose the wheels if I land in grass.

Nice model but it needs something.

View from the landing chase car.

I like the HP model but I kept looking at it and couldn't figure out what was bothering me about it. I remember now that I got to review some clips on YouTube.

What were you bothered with?

I like the model a it is. I can't be bothered with the things on the wing because I do not like those (except for when I need to mount something and it would be convenient. I think I like the short version best.

Further more it seems that the plane is a good flyer and a rarity because it is a sailplane with a ducted fan. Not many of those around.

Nelson, when will we see the flaps mod?

jmpdgs, I believe you are mistaken about the wing pods they are not tanks they are electronic pods, I like the old model, to me it is the real U-2, the new one surely looks mean and operational, but the real cold war missions (like the first ones over URSS and China) where flew with old models like this. Gary Powers was shot down in a model similar to the one phase 3 sells , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960_U-2_incident and Maj R. Anderson was shot down over Cuba in one similar too , also the Taiwanese U2s, http://www.taiwanairpower.org/u2/index.html, the phase 3 model includes the decals for the Taiwanese version (they lost 3 or 4 for the sams over China).
But even the old version have some little pods installed on the wings.
Again, they are not fuel tanks on the wings to improve range, they are pods for electronic devices used on the missions (the new ones, that you like are called superpods due to its size, range was also improved with new motors and air refueling capacity) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_U-2

Robert, I will post some photos here as soon I finish it, (the only thing i this model that is very sensitive is the cg, it really needs to be very accurate because the long nose). I am waiting some light servos to make it.
And you ? Will you add one U-2 to your fleet ?

Nelson

Not this month... Maybe march or april. This moving thing is costing a lot of money and virtually all of my free hours. Last renters were smokers and I've been cleaning and ventilating but the effect is minimal so far.

Next to that I've been buying protective motor clothing. I'll be taking lessons as soon as this moving thing is done. It has cost me a lot of money as well and it will cost me some more in the near future.

I still like it though...
