First stage field test worked fine. Basically involved driving around the town and letting the strobe go off as soon as it detected a change in the height.

I was a bit foolish, i should have installed a low-intensity LED while testing, not the 1W eyeball-blaster, it's amazing how bright a car cabin lights up at 11:15pm while driving down the street :whoops:

Did some more fine tuning today, looks like it's just sensitive enough to pick up the difference from the floor level to the ceiling (2.4m) which means realistically, I probably have about a resolution of 20', perfect for what I want, since I'll be doing 100' steps.

The next trick is working out all the math so that I can derive a nice function between height and the ADC value... and hope the microcontroller doesn't choke (it shouldn't it'll be a nice simple linear polynomial like v = K x height + offset ).

The height-alerts are done, two variants;

PLD-HA-LED - includes a 1W amber LED on the back, $57.00 AUD ( http://nqrc.com?vp=PLD-HA-LED )
PLD-HA-RMT - 2 pin header on board to let you drive your own external LED up to 1A $47.00 ( http://nqrc.com?vp=PLD-HA-RMT )

PLD-HA-LED top side

PLD-HA-LED bottom side with LED

PLD-HA-RMT top side (nothing of note on the bottom side)
