Maidened mine today- SMASHING GOOD! 2 clicks R ail, 1 click U ele- that was it. I had taken 1 1/2 wks to set up (little bit of time over a few nights-adding lights, venting via radiator, and a bit of detailing).
2 nose-plant landings till I felt her out, then the best 2 wheel landings I've ever made. Keep some power in when using flaps. She rolls out a long ways-used 100' of runway on landing and 40'&20' on takeoff. Just a beautiful plane. Funny how you can find something that fits just right. Now I gotta drop some $ on more batts or convert to 4s 2200's.
*1)-ESC was much warmer than any I've had so I'm gonna drop in a castle 75 lite ice.
*2)-definitely locktite landing gear, mine came loose but no damage.

Caution do not use Locktite on plastic! Will eventually eat away at plastic.

much better, barely warm on 3 cells, but got hot on a 4s, going to just fly it on 3s for now, nice relaxing plane to fly, slows to a crawl with full flaps and has a great presence in the air, flys great in the wind

I use the Spektrum telemetry module on my Hurricane and the ESC never gets above 135 degrees Fahrenheit at any time. That's not too hot. I'm flying 3300 30C 3S batteries in mine.

too hot for me, when esc's go they go from hot to thermal melt down in 3-5 seconds, telemetry is not going to warn you.

Wow, quite a meltdown. My esc sort of "cooked" the batteries, they all came down hot on one side, and after a while, even just taking off at full throttle caused the batteries to sag below 9.9v. The first time I thought I had forgotten to charge the battery. Toasted 3 out of my 4 batteries, which forced me to go to 4s.

Hi,
When you say your ESC "cooked" the batteries, are you talking about the Hawker Hurrican'es E-Flite 60 amp Pro ESC and the stock 3-cell 3200mah battery? I'd just like some clarification. I also wondered why you went to 4-cell battery and what ESC you're using with it?

Maidened mine today and it flies very nice and stable. Good speed and thrust. I am using an FMS 11x9x3 prop from their 1400mm cessna 182 I think. I don't know if the pitch is really 9 but that is what it says on it. Du bro spinner with a washer and a regular nut in front of the prop. I did not need the big heavy prop nut for nose weight. Battery slid all the way in for CG at about 2-3/4" It pulls around 45 amps and 450 watts at 11 volts. Nice flying plane.

Very nice redbarn! This thing is screaming for a 3 blader. First order of business for mine but I figured i would need to go 4S to spin it.

What is the diameter of the spinner?

w4yn/chaos-loctite on landing gear strut retainer screw, not on mounts. The screw backed off the flat spot on the LG strut. (I should have been clearer)
RE:
ESC-I don't know what the temp was but hot enough that I didn't want to hold my finger on it very long but wouldn't cause any pain, just not pleasant.
landing length- I like to land as scale as I possibly can, (letting the tail drop on its own).
