Its a perfect boat for San Diego's wind conditions I think.. and is the most popular boat here....If you look up a bit at Post #788 to the 12 Dec Newsletter you will see an ODOM on sale.. typically there are one or two on sale used any any given time within the club.. If you want a new one ... see the links in the 1st post or go to:

http://www.modelyachting.com/

but i would recommend you go up to Adrian's location and get the kit .. some have waited a very long time after ordering one. JimS.

Yeah I don't make to SD very often as it is a long and exspensive drive from the Bay Area.
I hope to make it back later in the year, but no promises. Ryan

Ryan,
Well I must admit I've never once made it out of San Diego to sail anywhere else.. so I think once a year is superb.. Please send a link to some SFMYC picts some time.. I assume Jess Atkinson ( our ODOM Class Secretary) sails with you pretty often right?

Jim,
There are tons of pics on the Santa Barbara forum and under dock talk the SFMYC unofficial thread has lots of pictures of sailing on Spreckles Lake. I have sailed IOMs with Jess Atkinson, but not ODOMs as I do not own an ODOM. If I could prioritize some dollars, I would acquire an ODOM, but I doubt that happening in the near future. Ryan

Steve,
I was really happy you beat me in one of the ODOM heats since it was great to see you grinning ear to ear as a result.. Sailing in a little breeze above 4 to 5 mph.. certainly is a lot more fun than the dead-calm we've has in a couple Points Races.. I agree!..

A few ODOM Picts from Saturday 1/12/13

Hard to sail and take picts at the same time but i grabbed these just before the start of the 1st ODOM race.. I think there were 14 or 15 ODOM's out racing that day.. We had a blast.. makes for dicey starts and rounding at the weather and leeward marks..

One thing of note ... Fillipo B and Kim Robbins offered to start up a sail tuning clinic on an off-weekend pretty soon .. they could be a big help I know I'd like to attend and will let folks know when they will do it..

Guys, I am joining the ODOM group. Bought an older George Ribiero built boat. I am gonna have to to get a rudder and rig kit. What is everyone using for a sail winch servo? Ryan

Hey that's great to hear !..

Yes I am also using a Hitec 815 BB but if you look up at Post 457 in this thread you will see there are alternatives.. In San Diego you can't beat Hitec's support if you ever have an issue they will fixit and generally for free, even if it is something you may have caused ) like letting the servo wire loop down into the bilge so any salt water entry can then wick up and into the servo connectors.. Hope to see you out there soon.. JimS
