He's not out tooling around on the course, he's just about to come out of the water.. .. we have a little overlap at times.. the scale guys agreed to be out of the water by noon on Saturdays .. That's when we typically start our sailing events..which last till about 3pm.

it's worked out well .. Sundays are Power Boat days.. but for Regattas' ( Like this Aug and Sept) they each ( Power Vs Sail) have the pond to themselves for the whole weekend.. Regards, JimS

2012-06-9 ODOM Points June 2012 (13 min 39 sec)

Sorry , no fancy Narration. This was the last of three ODOM races Saturday.

ODOM's had the 1st set of races for the day.. wind was very much from the SSW..

Larry in ODOM #500 came in 1st in each race.. Ken was right behind..in a solid 2nd each race.. me .. a 3rd, 4th and 6th .. I'm very happy.. only 8 of us raced.. we need more ODOMs to really make it interesting..

Come on down.. the water's fine and nearly up to the grass it's so full..now that the new Valve is in.. Regards, JimS

Hi Jim,

Thanks again for the video . . .too bad the wind did not allow a proper beat.

I see that someone has figured out to move the weather mark out into the middle of the pond to give a much longer stbd tack lay line.

Yup.. thanks to Kim Robbins ( Soling 50/ IOM skipper extraordinaire) he caught the problem well before the 1st race and went out and readjusted the position of that 1st weather mark .. If he hadn't done that we'd all be tacking across each other several times on that short leg.. to make it around the second weather mark on the far side . Good catch.. JimS.

Believe me...I would've been there but I'm away on vacation. I'm looking forward to the July races, though.

Jims:

In your last video, a boat with what appears to be a red hull and a dark band high up on the jib (could be numbers...its hard to tell) is on the course side of the starting line with about 15 seconds to go, comes down below the line, jibes and then starts, all without going around the ends. (The boat is second to the first windward mark).

Do you allow dip starts?

The standard RRS allow dip starts by default.

You have to put something in the regatta SI, or have the RD call "I" Flag - R 31.1 (round the ends) to dis-allow dip starts.
