most guys add a layer where the fan, tail bulk heads are (use 2" wide fiberglass tape ) you'll need some beef where the gear mounts are ,i would have the gear mount pick up the fan mounting rails ,and you'll need some kind of plywood spar carry through former, if you use foam you'll need to glass both sides of the foam like i did in my draken build.the mid wing planes are a bit of a pain when it comes to carring the loads through the fuse .

Julian,

With that many flights on your 105 I bet you had it running perfect. I donít remember what motor you were running but I have a 4s HET with maybe a dozen flights just sitting around attached to a sweet Air Power fan up for grabs. Greg and I have adjusted the CG and its ready but we have not flown it again. We also added a ballast pack for when we run the tanks because they are behind the CG. Giving it more flights should be soon. We are switching out weekly fly night from Tuesdays to Sundays. That should give us options for better light.

The steps I have been working on are the bulkhead placement. I need enough of them to have the carbon rods supporting the interior components. The Battery tray, nose gear up front and fan and tail sections in back. The plan is to have a full moving elevator with a single servo control. The gear also made it in today and should mate up to the electric retracts well.

Hi Jeff,
she's coming along nicely. What are you planing to do for wings? Foam cores or build up?

Dan,

The plan is to make the wings a foam core balsa skin and light glass. With no gear mounted in them the structure should not be to bad. That method will also be a first time for me but after the fuse mold and glass pull, confidence is high.

Hay Rodger/ John,

Yah, I’m going to start duct layout next and squarer those bulkheads on the carbon rods. I have the bulkheads laid out on the drawing so it will allow me to get the spacing correct and look at structure points for gear and fan. I know Brent recommended just strengthen the glass fuse but its thin and flexible so foam bulkheads was my best option.

if you glass both sides of the foam bulkheads it will get real strong ...and not add much weight.i did that on gear, spar, and fan bulkheads in the draken.

Jeff, great looking build. You are going to make a wire cutter for the wings?

Rodger,
I will plan on glassing to reinforce those areas. Thanks

Greg,
Not sure how I will get the wings shaped. One good thing they are not a complicated shape but they are very thin.

Right now I am looking at gear placement so I have an idea for ducting room. The gear is looking OK and I have clearances.

Just been studying how to mount gear on my build( he162)Looks to have similar setup. Are those alu.rails on the mains? I was thinking about lt ply plate, your set up look neat.Looks easy to adjust before fixing.
Thanks Stuart
