This thread is really quieting down now.
Has everyone given up with their V400?
I don't find much time to fly mine these days as I'm devoting most of my spare time to my Mikado 400 or X5, and even giving my old Hbfpv2 some attention.
What a Pig the Honeybee is to fly.
It's like trying to control a bin bag on strings in a gale force wind. Much harder to control than any CP helo I've ever had. Lol.

Stock servos replacement by mg90s

hello guys, I've got two v400d02.

1st v400d02:
It has broken all stock servos, so I've tried to replace them by mg90s. I've taken away stock servos, and replaced them by mg90s, but they are bigger than stock, so ive to adapt their attachment frames and mounting holes on them.

I have couple of questions.

I didnt change adjustment of sw1 on rx2614. I just find the middle position of each servo by turning on heli and moving sticks on tx and then I put lewer with rod onto servos. Is it correct? Cause Im not sure if I allready have the middle position of each servo. Should I find it somehow?
I didnt follow kdean's guide http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1401711, cause I didnt know about it till now.

Also I have had to set so many times rods, cause I didnt know proper angle of blades in positions of throttle stick - zero - middle - max. And also my rods from servo isnt same as before, cause I didnt make proper adaption of servos. I'll put here photos and you will see.

after 3hrs adjustment, my 1st v400d02 flied. but she is not stable and Ive crashed her (broken tail stabil) :-)

So I think that I should follow kdean's guide, but whats about the "middle position" of each servo, how to set it and how to get this position to remember by rx2614v?

2nd v400d02:
I've made brushless upgrade, its wonderfull and stable, but I've on her some plastic servos and one is broken. Cause it is not able to has stable position.
It is oscillating on some position - potentiometer seems to be damaged and it can destroy my heli.

So I wanna to upgrade servos to mg90s also, but I wanna to have this v400d02 stable as it is now. Im affraid when I will change servos and make some changes on settings rx2614v, I'll make her unstable.. And also I wanna to make stable my 1st of course.

Guys, please help me with it, cause I dont wanna to give up with v400s

About 5hours I'll put here photos of changes

@Djsmeegy,

To find the servo centre, you should set your pitch and throttle curves to 50 in the middle
EG L-0, 1-25, 2-50, 3-75, H-100,
Or you can make it a straight 50 all across, like,
L-50, 1-50, 2-50, 3-50, H-50

Once you have done this, remove your servo horn, then place your left stick (throttle/collective) at midstick which will equal 50.

If you use the latter method of 50 all across, it doesn't matter where you place your left stick (have it at the bottom, middle, top, anywhere).

Once you have done this, place the servo horn on to the servo output shaft at 90 Degrees or as close as possible.

Your servo is not centred.

So, what do you think of the Mikado as far as quality and design. I have been looking at one but don't know anybody that actually has one.

They're very good, and I prefer the VBar on it a little more than the uBeastX on my X5 FES.
The design and construction is light and minimalist just like the X5, again with gobs of power.
Just like the Gaui, everything that comes stock with the kit is just great. There is no need for changing out the electronics, etc..

I say go for it, I really like it, and fly it second to my X5.

Hey guys I have 2 of these and both have broken servos.

I am thinking of buying these servos:
http://www.hobbypartz.com/9gexidimeges.html

What kind of mods am I looking to make to get them to work. I've also never installed a servo, is there a video on how to install them?

Also I purchased a quadcopter F450 clone from china and I was wondering if I can use the Receiver and Transmitter from the Walkera V400D02 on the quad?

Thank you, I'm a newbie in rc but I am eager to learn.

Hi Atomic3, those were the first 'better' servos I installed on my V400. They are a fat lot better than the stock servos! Really, the biggest challenge is to get the to fit on the heli. With the EXIs, you will have to shave off some plastic on the servo cases, and you will have to drill new holes in the servo brackets. This can be a bit tricky; but when done right, it will look nice.

If your receiver is not a DEVO, a much better servo is the Hitec 5055s--they are a much easier to install, and are super precise. You will not regret the money or the time installing these servos once you fly with them. I don't know about any videos, but you should definitely take a look at Kdean's blog about installing the 5055s.

Yes, the Hitec 5055 Metal servos are great.
Unless you plan on doing stick banging, you can fit the 5055 without any modifications at all.
I use twisted wire to hold mine in, and they haven't fallen off the servo holders in 4 crashes.
The only thing that breaks in a crash is the brittle servo horns which is fine as it stresses the gears much less.
Best servos for this thing I think.

Quadcopter controllers are completely different to heli controllers. Depending on the features, they can be much more expensive than heli controllers. It is possible that a particular all-in-one Walkera receiver may work, but it is best that you ask in the multi-rotor section.

Unfortunately I have the Devo7 transmitter.

I'm going to buy the EXI servos and give my dremmel skills a test.

Thanks for the input!

@zadaw
Probably would have to buy a separate set of receivers for my quad.

I found that a razor blade cut much cleaner than a saw or dremmel. I didn't want a bunch of dust and burs to deal with after cutting. Just a thought.

My SuperV has been on the bench for sometime now. I'm still waiting to put an order in at wow to get the canopy posts, along with some spares for my rex family.

Winter is here and the winds will be higher than normal, especialy now with 'sandy' passing over, so the 400 and 450 will get some time off while i fly the 500 and 600.

Anyway, hope you guys have a good flying weekend.
