You know, you must be one of the luckiest dudes on the entire planet. Your heli launches off to infinity at full power with mostly a full pack, it causes no harm to anyone else or property, you actually find it again in a tree, and your watch manager actually lets you retrieve it from the tree even though he thinks the hobby is silly. By any standard, that is an amazing story.

For the other one that you're looking at, it looks like a nice bird, but you want to check part availability. I think one big reason why people get the trex brand, at least why i did, is because parts are easy to find and there are plenty of clone parts out there for very cheap. That heli looks ready to fly with a transmitter and everything. What transmitter are you using now? You may want to think about buying a clone kit and a better transmitter instead. Once you have a good transmitter you can use it for all of your heli's and planes. Tarot is a good clone, something like this would be good and it shares all the trex parts. You might be able to find a used transmitter for a good price too. http://tarot-rc-heli.com/Tarot-450-P...uper-Combo-Kit You would need the receiver too, I didn't shop around much but here is an example http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walkera-8-CH...item27bb70bb0d Or you could do what Helibiggie did and get the v450 that comes with the 2801 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walkera-V450...item2a1b4b9cd8 btw, not sure if you have found this thread yet or not but kdean has another good thread where we talk about a bunch of other helicopter types http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1473111 |

I have the brushless mod on both my v400's and just got the brushless tail mod and there is one thing that im not quite sure of. Does the red and black wires from the tail mod off the esc, hook up to where the battery plugs into the main brushless esc?

I bought both helis with the main mod already installed. one is the plug n play and the other is a self mod. neither has the jst plug on them. The only jst plug is on the output tail motor wires that go to the tail motor from the stock esc, and after hooking the brushless tail mod black and red wires to that,it didnt respond. I then hooked the tail mod wires to the wires that the battery plugs into - which the esc from the brushless main mod esc is connected to, and it works. I just want to know before i fly. Is that where the wires from the esc of the tail mod connect to the power souce without frying things?

I'm not sure I entirely understand your question, but the black and red tail esc wires connect to the battery just like the main esc does. The three wires from the tail motor go to tail esc.

Oh, and make sure the tail spins in the correct direction, too.

Nope, no joy with the 450 yet. I hope this weekend will be the one.

I'm just fortunate that nobody was injured. When my watch manager and crew went to retrieve it, He was quite intrigued when He saw the heli', so I said I'd fetch one of my self-stabilising FP birds into the station for Him to have a go so I might be able to convert Him into a pilot, who knows? Heck, we sit around and just sleep and eat for most of our shift, so I might as well give Him something to do. Lol. Will tell you how it all goes when i've fixed my v400. |

Was reading in the multirotor forum that a similar thing happened to a bloke and I found that quite funny as well. He has video coverage which makes it even more laughable. |
