I like the super duo, but would like to be able to ocasionally use ac.... I have a 30a 12v supply now, but this would be a waste on the sduo. Looking instead at buying two 0720i ad net3 , but what I cannot find anywhere is if you can discharge 8s packs with the two units networked.... anyone know?

I don't get your logic? You have the 12V/30A,360W PS already which isn't enough to run even a single 720i (7S, 250W) charger at full power. So why would having 2 x 720i be better for your needs than an SDUO?

The hyperion "ad" units have a built in ac power supply, so I would not need an external source

Ah, I see. They are only 90W when using the internal AC supply and 150W when using a DC supply. If that is enough power for you then that would make sense. For my needs nothing under 250W is any use

Hi, when I fly I can use only 12V car battery (13V max when is full charge, or 14V when motor is on). What power I can give? How do I know?
I found the answer:
You will get approximately 300W power at 13.8V
This from blog from hyperion site.

No problem; this is a great charger.

Mine can balance charge the nanotech 2200 3s batteries from hobbyking in about 8mins

For me, it simply means that so long as I am flying near my car or another available power source, I can get away with 2 batteries and fly nonstop all day long, as it takes me 8-12 mins to discharge a battery depending on throttle management. Gone are the days where I have to invest in 6-8 batteries per plane; now I just have two batteries for each plane...

also i will note, I have been flying those nano batteries hard and charging at rates of 6-10c. So far, I have hundreds of cycles with no loss of efficiency and the batteries are just as powerful as the day I got them.

Gezz I just looked at my 4400 tp they can charge at 12 c, yup, gone are the days of having many packs, I guess I am still limited by the charger but how fast do you really need to charge

Glad you asked!

With my flying style, if I bring only parkflyers to the field that all fly 3s 2200mAh batteries; I fly ALL DAY with 2 batteries.

While my batteries are capable of 8c and 10c charge rates, I usually charge them at 5c or 11amps. This gives me a totally balanced charge pack from approx. 30% full to 100% full in 12-14mins. I usually chat for about 5 mins between flights and it seems I always have a battery ready. Best part is, these nano-tech tunigeys only cost me about $20-$25 per battery.

Two batteries charging at 5c is pleanty for me
