training gear,Or No training gear?

Is training gear just when you lift off? Cause I added the voyager LG to my corona, and my training gear didnt fit to well,So I just got done getting it ready for flight and I was checking the balance and it seems to be more balance without the gear.I dont think i would have any problems lifting up off the ground,"In the air is another story"But do you think I should take off,Or would that be a big no no?

training gear is what its called.. for training.. until you are confident in your hovering/flying skills.. it keeps your heli from flipping over.. landing on its side.. etc.. etc.. I am going to keep my landing gear on until I am confident in every aspect of hovering.. nose in is the last thing I am learning before I totally remove my landing gear. I have flown many times w/o it with no problem but there have been many times when the training gear has come in for the rescue..

The training gear would be more for landing, ie. crooked or forward/sideward/backward motion landings like Gmaster said, I would definitely advise to leave them on until you're very comfortable hovering at least tail in within a 2x2ft radius so you can land without worry. That's when I stopped using them and I practiced nose in at higher altitudes, giving me time to get it back around if need be, although some will put the gear back on and start on nose in the same way as tail in... Guess that's up to you... but the training gear will definitely save you from a lot of unnecessary crashes and will give you more confidence while learning to do a stable hover.

having the TG on too long teaches you LOTS of bad habits. Flying is a lot easier without as well. When you can hover and land repeatedly, take them off.

I fail to understand why people tip over their helis. Never happened to me. If you can't go up a few feet and then down again without tipping wildly then yuo should definatley keep the gear on!

You increase throttle and pitch, heli goes light, apply some cyclic to counter the helis tendancy to tilt, but more collective and you are in the air. Landing - do opposite!. The moment your skids are on the floor shut throttle (and therefore appply some negative pitch) immediately and you have 0 chance of tipping over.

I lied above - I tipped over my Pic Pro when I first test flew it. I had left and right cyclic reversed on my TX :--) Doh!

Be brave. Hovering and flying tail in is a piece of cake. Nose in is another matter :-)
